Creditnet's Review

The American Express® Preferred Rewards Gold Card is a charge card ideal for those who are able to pay their balance in full each month. No debt is accumulated, you have no preset limit, and no money wasted on interest charges.

For no additional fee, you'll gain access to American Express' Membership Rewards program, where you can earn up to two points per dollar spent* at certain places and 1 point per dollar for all other purchases.

As a bonus, cardmembers will receive 10,000 reward points after their first purchase, which brings you that much closer to redeeming your points as travel rewards, merchandise, or other great products and services. The American Express® Preferred Rewards Gold Card places no limit on the points you can earn per year and your points will never expire!

The American Express® Preferred Rewards Gold Card is fee-free for the first year, but carries a $125 annual fee (and $35 for additional cards) after the first year. However, considering the card provides 'gold' quality additional services and benefits, such as travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, merchant discounts, and access to Gold Card Events, giving you access to exclusive concerts, shows, sporting events, and more, $130 per year is not such a bad deal for what is provided you.

If you can afford to pay your balance in full each month and plan to take advantage of the rewards program and all the other benefits and services this card provides, then the American Express® Preferred Rewards Gold Card is the charge card for you.
