UDF = Universal Data Form. Its the form that the subscribers (collectors, creditors, etc.) to the CRAs use to update/delete tradelines.

Re: The creditnet glossary!

"R" - a lender's Retention department.

Retention Agents are usually much more powerful than ordinary customer service reps. They are trained to negotiate and will improve the terms of your account if your "profitability score" justifies it.

When a customer calls his credit card company and threatens to close his account, he may be referred to "R". Some lenders, such as Citibank, will let you talk to "R" upon request, without you having to threaten anything.

Re: The creditnet glossary!

Linda,
This is from Equifax and would apply to an I#, R#, O#:

Rate Key*
0 Too new to rate
1 Pays account as agreed
2 Not more than two payments past due
3 Not more than three payments past due
4 Not more than four payments past due
5 At least 120 days or more than for payments past due
7 Making regular payments under W.E.P
8 Repossession
9 Bad Debt; placed for collection; skip

Re: The creditnet glossary!

Butch-
You can only get a UDF from the CA or original creditor. You can always make up your own settlement letter, but a UDF is a letter from the CA to the CRA's that you would just get a copy of for your records!

Statute of Limitation (also called SOL): statutorily set maximum time periods during which lawsuits can be brought to enforce rights. After the time period set out in the applicable statute of limitations has run (expired), no legal action can be brought. The rationale is to force lawsuits to be brought while the evidence is still "fresh" and credible.

Re: The creditnet glossary!

1*
If one doesn't have the gumption to make every effort to collect what is due him within 5Yrs. the matter needs to be dropped forever.
Why should the alleged debtor have this hanging over his head for eons simply due to the creditors procrastination.?
A 5 year S.O.L. is plenty long enough in all cases.
2*
The longer the sol the more likely the alleged debter may loose or missplace important evidence.Any sol over 5 years takes asvantage of this fact!

They never take it off the report when we make it right so why should we take it off the docket when they do?

lbrown - this thread is supposed to be a glossary. That means it is NOT a lbrown tirade thread. Thank you.
