    Re: Amex Pre-Approval @ Login?

I clicked on "Log In Now" under "Im already a cardmember." I get the "Welcome" screen and a message that says, "Because of your standing as an Optima® Platinum Cardmember, we invite you to add an Additional Card to your account!" I clicked on "Select From A Wide Range Of Cards" and chose the American Express® Cash Rebate Card (clicking on Learn More).

At the top of the web page, it reads, "Add this Card to the one you currently carry, and, in addition to an enhanced array of benefits and services, you'll receive up to a 2% cash rebate on every eligible purchase." At the bottom of the page, it reads, "Accept Pre-Approval."

I clicked on the Accept Pre-Approval. An application popped up that was partially filled. It looks as though I will have to submit an application if I want the card. It smells like an inquiry waiting to happen.

This part is formulated so stupid from them. It should say Additional Card to your MEMBERSHIP.

Because Amex gives you no way to cancel the application on screen, I closed the window and exited the site.

Yes, you did right. It would have been an inquiry. The preapproval will be on the first screen you see after you log in. Keep looking. Even then, though, you get an inquiry, and you have to fill out a short application (pretty much reverifying/updating your info). That's how I got my Blue.

Only doesn't work if your George.

    Breeze,

Did I get an inquiry since I went to the pre-filled application?
