You got it Greg. We just don't like it. This board is about credit repair. We dispute, write letters, ask, threaten, sue, you name it.
The picture is much bigger than the one you are painting.

If I may be so bold as to answer this question for the group, yes this credit reporting system is so screwed up that real accuracy is at the least very near impossible. When one group is allowed to place anything on anyone’s credit report and it is taken as fact until the party described in that credit report disputes the validity of that information. And even then the person who’s report is not accurate is forced through a litany of hoops to simply get the information reported correctly this system is set up under guilty until proven innocent mindset.
Greg you are the almighty preacher of accuracy, do you dare to espouse that all three of your credit reports are one hundred percent accurate? Has every trade you have made in the last seven years reflected completely correct? And are the balances shown on your revolving accounts absolutely correct?
If the banks and lending institutions can use these inaccuracies to their advantage, i.e. higher rates, or closing accounts of good customers based on credit reports not on account history. Tell me why we ask participants in this flawed system should not take the same advantages when we find opportunity?
As a Sales Manager once told me, when I was selling cars for a living “are you selling or buying? You need to figure out whose side you want to be one because you can’t be on both!” I would like to ask you to do the same you are obviously articulate and most likely intelligent and could prove yourself a valuable resource to this community, why do you insist on wasting your time and the time of members of this board attacking the tactics of others? If you do not agree with someone’s methods, you should simple not employ those methods. I beseech you to stop being so antagonistic.

Greg,
Regardless of the laws that say if the CRA/creditor doesn't respond within 30 days, the CRA MUST delete.
Let me ask you a question.
Have you ever disputed a negative tradeline because the balance, date opened, etc. was incorrect?
Did the CRA ever delete the negative acct. because they were unable to verify?
If so, did you fight as hard for the ACCURATE yet negative account to be re-entered on to your credit report?
If not, you are as big a hypocrite as anyone else, maybe more so.
And on a somewhat related side note. The laws of the great country you live in, were set up in such a way for those in power, THAT FOLLOWING THE LETTER OF THE LAW WAS/IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE GUILT OR INNOCENCE OF THE INDIVIDUAL, NO MATTER WHAT THE CRIME.
Do you think that the lawmakers did not foresee consumers fighting to get 'legitimate' debts removed from their credit reports? Of course they did. But like most of our laws, it is the RESPONSIBILITY of those that hold the REAL power to follow the letter of the law at a much higher standard than the average consumer. WHY? Because since the beginning of time, those with more power inevitably abuse those powers in favor of themselves.
THAT IS WHY AMERICA IS SO MUCH DIFFERENT THAN EVERY OTHER COUNTRY ON THE EARTH (although this is quickly changing).
Your aristocratic attitude about what is fair and right,(only according to you of course), does not fit this country, this time, or age.
Do you know the definiton of insanity--Doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. Your arguments are lost on anyone on this board, so why do you continue to beat your head against the rock of our 'immorality.' You are acting irrationally and insane.
Just think if you used all your intelligence and time helping people instead of focusing on "accurate" reports.
When you die, do you want people to say, "Greg, boy, he sure worked hard at getting credit reports accurate, but he was sort of an ass while doing it." or "Greg, he will be missed. The love and caring he showed to others inspired me to spread that same kindness to everyone i met. He was somebody i will never forget."

Re: Boosting scores for mortgage app
I am w/ Calypso. Be careful of balance credits, they often look like regular balances on the report (inaccurate) and Citibank should be put away if you're trying to achieve an accurate score. They don't update regularly especially on EXP (inaccuracy again) and your rpt won't reflect your true debt status.

Re: Boosting scores for mortgage app
One danger of the approach I outlined is that many lenders will pull your credit a second time right at the end of escrow, just before funding, as a QC measure. Ask me how I know. Fortunately, as I said earlier, my scores still support the qualification, so no worries. But, that could really bite you in the butt.

The past 2 months I have been getting my credit report(s) ready for when I apply for my mortgage next month.
To absolutely maximize your score, the best thing you can do in the short term is to pay down credit card revolving balances.
The problem is that even if you pay off the balance in full, the credit card reports the balance that was on there at the closing of the statement. So if you charge $2,000 and pay it off as soon as you get the bill, your report still shows $2,000 in revolving debt.
The trick is to pay off the account prior to the statement closing. This will cause the satement to close with a $0 balance and the report to list $0 in revolving debt.
I did this last January prior to a car lease and it boosted my Experian score from 714 to 762 by merely getting my revolving debt down from $3,000 to $250.
I have been paying off all of my balances prior to the statement closing for two months now just to give myself a cushion in case they don't report each month.
I have Equifax up to 742 and Experian up to 730.
The ONLY debt on my reports right now is my wife's auto lease with $17,300. It is from Jan 2002.

Lizardking
This is an excellant technique. The important thing to remember though is to pay before the cycle closes. Keep your debt ratio low and your FICO score stays high. Also, and this is VERY important to remember, DO NOT buy anything on credit nor apply for credit between the time you apply for a mortgage and the time that you close. It is common practice for mortgage lenders to pull credit either the day before of the day of closing to make sure there has been no material changes in your credit. Any inquiries after approval will require an acceptable explaination and if there have been alot of inquiries within the past year, underwriting many times will require that they be explained as well.

I would love to follow the above strategy by don't have the funds to pay down the balances.

This will only work if you keep disputing until after the loan closes. Most mortgage lenders repull credit just before closing and if they see a material change, like debt ratio changing materially, then they can decline the loan even on the day of closing. This is a very risky technique and I have seen it bite people a couple of times (and I did warn them in advance not to try).

You support that kind of lying on your applications? In other words, if it isn't on the credit report, you don't expect it to be disclosed-- particularly if they are deliberately hiding it-- and, indeed, you know about it?

What "sort" of lying are you talking about? What I am saying, if it matters to you, is that using and paying down your credit card balances within the same cycle is an excellant technique to keep you debt ratio low. That IS NOT lying. Credit card companies allow a card user to do that.
Greg, I am not sure what your problem is, but what ever you are drinking or smoking you definately need to cut back on.
