I went through a rough period financially a while back. Through hard work, in June 2013 I would have had perfect credit once again. Although I had all of my bills set up on AutoPay, somehow one of my Capital One credit cards wasn't set up properly. The card went 60 days late, and is being reported by TransUnion as a 30 day late payment.

I called and spoke with an extremely nice representative at Capital One, explained that I fully thought that this card was set up on AutoPay, that my other Capital One credit card had been set up on AutoPay since day one, and I thought this one was too. She said that if I made my full past due payment including late fees while she was on the phone with me, that she would remove the 30 day late from this account, and send me a letter reflecting this so that I could contact the 3 credit bureaus. Here is the letter:

Apparently someone at Capital One (I'm assuming a manager) has went into my account, re-added the 30 day late payment, and it is now being reported again to TransUnion.

Is there anything that I can do since they agreed to remove the late payment, sent me the letter reflecting this, and they're now going back on their word?

These kinds of mistakes unfortunately happen all the time. I would first try contacting Cap One again and providing them with the documentation below. They should fix the error for you.

We had this issue and it cycled with the updated no lates, back to a 30 day late and within about 15 days after the late was re-reported, it was removed and hasn't been put back on since. It was some weird cycle, I guess?

I had a 30 day late removed, hopefully wont come back. Was also capital one. When it went away, the score didn't change, not even 1 point. Did your score go up and back down again?

When the late was removed, the score went up 5 points. When it re-reported as 30 days again, it didn't move and after the 15 days when it came back off, no change in the score.
