Hubby has a 784 FICO and a perfect Equifax report so I had him apply for a Direct Merchants Bank credit card since I knew it was Equifax they pulled. He only got a $500 credit limit. How can this be? I thought this would be his first prime card but it's a "toy" titanium!!!! Any suggestions as to how this could have happened? And what to do to get a real credit limit?
DMB has gotten quite stingy of late. They've had to plug the leaks due to lawsuits, greater than average delinquencies, etc. I've found Juniper to be much more responsive.
I was thinking that might be the problem. He has three Cap One tradelines which report only the highest amount ever owed (under $300) instead of the credit limit. Also a Dayton's/Marshall's which does the same thing, reports at $1000 but credit limit is $2100. Should we call them and tell them our other credit limits are much higher and this limit is a joke? (I hate when the cards don't report the true credit limit......)
DMB gave me 1k, I have lower scores, but hell maybe that is what they want... anyways, I am tired of DMB calling me about that damn credit protection plan.. NO I DO NOT WANT IT!!
What is the NEXT HIGHEST??? STATE FARM gave me $1,000 when the "LOWEST" I have is $5,000...(TOY CARD)...they raised it to $5,000...and said SORRY for their "ERROR IN JUDGEMENT"
Re: 784 FICO and only got $500 CL?? Why would someone with a first-class score apply for a card from a third-class issuer? Saar
Re: 784 FICO and only got $500 CL?? I didn't realize this wasn't a good card to have. I just assumed that with a good score he'd get a good card. We also wanted to apply with someplace that pulled only Equifax since that's his best report (others have negs. but might have more positives too). I see now the reason for the low limit, since I had him apply for another and this was their reason for DENIAL "Too few accounts with sufficient satisfactory performance". So apparently he doesn't have enough credit with 5 accounts, the oldest being 7 years old. I'm so disgusted with this credit stuff right now.
Re: 784 FICO and only got $500 CL?? Run the CapOne cards up and back down, so the high limit shows. DMB is generous with increases if you use the card and pay on time.
