If a paystub doesn't refelct all your income - they'll ask you to fax the first two pages of your last tax returns
Hello There,

I heard that Generations Bank is a total pain in the butt to do a balance transfer with.
They now request a faxed letter explaining your reason for why you want to do a balance transfer. A friend of mine had to provide a copy of his other credit card bill to show that it has a higher interest rate than his Generations Bank card.
When he asked why Generations Bank wants so much info, they told him that they have had a ton of fraud this year.
So if you want to pay off a card that is LOWER, they WON'T do it???

I had the same experience with them. I wanted to do a bt from an ATT card, about 10k. My TU report only showed a balance of 4k so they wanted to make sure that I wasn't just overpaying another card. They don' t mind doing BT's if you are reducing your debt load, they just don't want to do any backhanded cash advances for you.
That's really NONE of their business if you want to "OVER BT" and then get a check or do another BT from the second card...I do it all the time...Originally posted by wolverine

Actually, when I have wanted to avoid all the trouble of the balance transfer, I just do a cash advance at the bank. Then there are no questions asked.
The APR is the same as for purchases, and the fee is only $2 no matter the size of the cash advance.
