    I saw another story on this. A Dem. senator was saying that this bill would be a, "victory for women everywhere" because you can still sue anti-abortion groups without fearing them going bankrupt.

    This bill is not a "victory for women everywhere" and I can't beleive there hasn't been more of an uproar about this bill, a bill which could really hurt the average consumer. It's really sad, and I hope I never will have to file...

    MSNBC has an article saying that the House will probably vote today, and that the last hurdle between the House and Senate version have been ironed out. There isn't more of an uproar, I dare to say, because most Americans are so passive when it comes to these things. Besides, there is nothing like understanding what it's like to be in serious debt trouble until you're there. The big money interests have won, as usual. The banks and financial institutions STEAL from the average consumer everyday with their interest rates & service charges, especially when you're down on your luck and not able to keep up with the payments. Debtors prison would actually probably be a more equitable punishment for those who dare lose their jobs or become stricken with a serious illness. What a sad day for the average person.

    Well it looks like it will pass. This means it will go in to effect in February 2003 assuming the president signs it in early August. It probably was inevitable that the bill pass but the timing is not good. A lot of people will be filing BK 7 before the economy fully recovers.

    "RIGHT-TO-LIFE LOBBY PLAYS DEAD!

    FINAL VERSION DECIDED! HOUSE TO VOTE ON COMPROMISE ACT TODAY: SENATE WILL VOTE NEXT WEEK

    Informed sources in Washington notified us last night that the Conference Committee has settled on a final compromise version of the bankruptcy reform legislation. The late-breaking agreement was made possible yesterday when the Right-To-Life lobby ceased its opposition to the final wording on the issue of discharge of damages in abortion clinic cases.

    Next step: The unified version will be put to a vote in the House, expected to happen today. Informed sources predict it will quickly pass.

    Next week the Senate will take it up. Although opponents of the drastic legislation express grave concern and doubt it can be stopped in the Senate, there is some slight hope that opposition Senators may be able to stall it long enough for a miracle to happen.

    Your opinion expressed to your senator may be important now."

    ==================
    The only way the consumer will ever win is to stop being their victim by refusing to do business with them.
    It takes two to tango and as long as we're willing to be their partner they will keep right on dancing away with our money.

    In a strange way we have nothing to complain about.We are getting exactly what we are asking for.
