Thread: all paid but student ln, low score

Score is around 633 eq, 600, exp

The good news: The only debt is student loans. One was in collection, but that was removed and is now reporting current. The other has been paid on time since 9/2001.

The bad news: All kinds of collection accounts, they are 'verified' and reported now as paid, but balance zero. Also derogatory items, including the one student loan-as I had all kinds of bad payment history prior to 2001.

There is also a car loan closed 3 years ago with the same payment history problem, but never more than 30 days late.

I have 2 very low limit credit cards which when I pulled my report, of course, was the only month I had not paid them off. Lesson learned. Balance zero.

I worked so hard to payoff the debt (30K in two years AND sold my high interest car and bought a beater in cash), now I want to buy a house and I am hovering at 600. I want to be prime. I screwed up early on-but have been straight for 2.5 years (no late payments). What do I do when it is a negative item, but with no balance? And yes, I did try to search, but to no avail.

PS I have had success disputing, when I started my report was 12 pages long, it is half that now. Major improvement. :)

The paid collections - got to the FAQ's and find the link for the nutcase series. That might get rid of some, if not all.
