Hi EVERYONE!! I need some help...
I just was hired at a bank (start in 2 weeks), however I just had to sign something saying they were going to check my criminal background, credit history, etc. I have to be bondable in order to work there. My current Experian score is 642 and my fico is 592. I have a collection account with Sherman (ugggh) and a charge off from First USA from 1999, while I was still in college. Will this make me unbondable? I have a completely clean criminal record, etc?

I'm pretty sure you'll be okay.

This stuff happened a few YEARS ago, and should not be taken into your character today.

Which bank were you hired with?

Good credit needed to work....OMG, where is this country going where not only do you have to get off your lazy rear to work, but then you've got an excuse not to if your credit sucks!

I'll tell ya, this whole credit for everything thing is too much man. When I was 18 and signed up for the Army, I wanted either 95 Bravo (military police) or 54 Delta (explosives ordinance disposal). Because I had a car loan that had 3 lates on it I could not get a security clearance for these positions.

....I then got mad and decided to do a MOS that was co-ed and went with 77 whiskey....(Water Treatment Specialist).

You remember the Army movie with Paulie Shore!?

    Freaking credit....UGGHHH!!!

Remember, this isn't just any job, it's at a bank. They want everyone bonded in case someone embezzles or something. I'm not saying you would, but that's what they're looking at.

I agree with David, though. This was long enough ago that it shouldn't be a problem. Now if all of your current accounts were late, you probably wouldn't get the job.

Why not be up front and talk to the person you're dealing with at the bank. Tell them you had a few negatives but it was four years or so ago.

You can even get a security clearance now with a lot of problems. The important thing is to tell about it up front, and not make them dig it out. If it looks like you're hiding it, that is worse.
