am I stuck?

I just need some advice... I WANT TO CLOSE SOME CARDS, I have way too many but one of my negative score factors is credit history is short. If I close cards that are a year old, is this going to hurt me even more scorewise?? Am I stuck, do I absoutely have to keep these darn cards until they are like 2 or more years old?

Are these subprime crap? ( annual fees, etc.)

If so i would call them all and demand things.

Waive annual fee, lower apr.

I would try and keep 2 of these cards. People like amex, like to see at least 2 accounts that are 2+ years old with positive payment history.

many of them are sub-prime crap cards... I don't want them anymore!! So I've decided to sock drawer the ones I want to get rid of and then close them later in the year. To hell with FICO, I can't beat it.

Leave the accounts open, use them once a month for a tank of gas, and pay them off in full. Use the sub-prime crap to build a credit history. I used 2 providian cards and a Crapital One card, and now I am getting pre-approvals from every prime card company and their mothers. (figure of speech)
