Nah. It says anybody named George gets no better that 8.99% no matter what. They call it the UYGF?

Update on Hilton Hhonors card:

I called 1-800-337-9555, which is AmEx's repricing dept., and was told that the Hilton cards are not the same as the regular Optima cards and weren't even listed in this dept.'s database. Because the Hilton cards weren't listed in the database, they couldn't even review my account to see if I qualified for "customer level pricing". This doesn't make sense, as the Hilton card is an Optima - but I got the same answer from three reps in repricing. I don't know if this is true for Starwood cards.

Apparently, you only get "customer level pricing" if your account is "pre-approved" for it and it will say so both in this dept's. database as well as regular customer service. If you are pre-approved, regular customer service will have a notation on your account and will transfer you to this dept. (but you do need to mention "customer level repricing" to tip them off to look for the notation). You're also supposed to get a letter in the mail telling you that you are pre-approved and instructing you to call 1-800-xxx to get the reduced rate. But, I never got a letter for the Blue (though I got two thank you confirmation letters for the Blue).

I think it is still worth calling this dept. directly to ask about repricing, even if customer service says they can't find the benefit for you.

That's true. Not all card types are part of the rate reduction program. Card types that are definitely participating are Blue, Optima Platinum and Cash Rebate.

Just FYI.....

I was able to go from 9.9% to 8.9%. Supposedly (not new news of course) the rate is determined by the marketing dept. Was told to try back again maybe in 6 mos. Thanks to everyone for the heads up on this one.

my amex platinum cash back rebate card was lowered from 14.99 to 10.49

I think they are just waiting for people to call in and accept the lower rate that is in the system.

If you don't mind me asking, what's the diff between the Plat cash back and the regular? I never saw anything about a Plat Cash back on the site....
