Amex question

    I read on this board, regarding the Optima card being reinstated if there was a chargeoff on that account. Is there a phone # to that AMEX department or agency regarding that type of transaction. I have a friend while a very old account that wants to get his Amex back and that seemed to be a good solution to his problem. Any help would be greatful. And shop at buykiyi.com. I am poor.

    Hi,

    I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier.

    Before I found Creditnet, I called AMEX to re-instate my AMEX green card. I offered to pay it to get it re-opened.

    They told me no, and that I could pay it and wait about 12 months then apply again.

    I am waiting my time...

    I called the regular customer service number.

    I am sorry if this doesn't answer your question, but at least it is gonna get your post moved back up to the top.

    I would love to shop at your site, but I am poor right now :).
    When I get back on my feet, I will buy something.

    I saw your site when your first put it up. It is nice and very professional looking.

    I have a friend who had a charge-off with Amex many years ago. She applied for the Blue product and was declined. When she called Amex, they informed her of the previous account. She stated she wanted to pay it. They transferred her to a collections dept. where she was given the info to send her payment. Amazingly, they never charged any interest or late fees. Just the original balance she owed. After the payment posted, she called new accounts back and they processed her Blue application. Amex was not showing on her reports any longer and her credit was excellent. That could be the reason they processed it so quickly after payment.

    I am not sure they will reactivate the old account, but they my issue a new one. I doubt they would want someone who had a charge-off to have the original "member since" date. Hope this helps some. Good luck!!
