My goal is to have one of AMEX cards. Which one is easiest to get and what score is required or length of history? Iâ??m assuming Amex green one is first step? By the way, Iâ??m not a student.

    Thanks,
    Denny

:))) So should I first go with Amex Blue??? That would be nice. If you want we could switch green for blue!
Any input what score I need for green one?

    Thanks,
    Denny

I would start with the green and then upgrade to gold... I just applied for the green card a month ago and then upgraded to the gold card the other day actually with no credit check. I got denied for the blue and my score is 723 because they said I didn't have enough revolving credit ( i have under $1000) so the blue is definitaly harder to get. Wait at least 6 months after you get the green.

The easiest is Amex Starwood or Hilton optima. My brother was approved for it with only 4 months of credit history with a secured $500 Providian visa and a $200 mobil (2 months) on his reports.

You've applied for gold at the same time you got green?! Or you're waiting for 1 month and then you switched to gold?

This is pretty much my situation. 3 tradelines. 6-7 months old ... What CL he got? He is not student? They report to all 3CRA's, right?

I actually just applied for the green a month ago and haven't even received my first bill yet. the other day I just happen to call them to find out when my billing cycle was and asked what I need to do in order to up grade to the gold ...she put me on hold and said I could have it if i wanted ... and upgraded me right there... I am going to wait 6 months for the blue ...The guy on the phone told me i got denied for the blue because I had under $1000 revolving credit...

Sorry, I don't understand. Did you activate your green card first or you were waiting for green to come after they approved your app. And at that time while you were waiting for card to arrive, you give them a call and they switched to gold one?

    Thank you.

I applied and then received my green card about 3 weeks ago... I used it a few times ... still haven't received my first bill. I then called up to find out when my billing cycle was and while I was on the phone ..I also inquired about the gold card. She then upgraded my while I was on the phone. I will now have my new Gold card as of my new billing cycle, Jan 24th.

What kind of credit scores do you need to get the green Amex? I have some paid collections. Do those have to be deleted before being considered for this?

$2000 limit, but you can call to new accounts after approval to ask for a reconsideration of the Cr limit. 2 months later he applied and was approved for Blue
    for another 2000 limit.

Yes, they report to all Three CRA´s

What's annual fee for green and gold one?
What's difference between Green card, Rewards Green Card, Prefered Rewards Green card? I wasn't aware that they have so many "modifications" ...

    An additional question here:

If you have a FICO of 566, but had an AMEX green card in the past (with no lates, high CL) that was closed (by the consumer), do you have a chance getting another?

Americanexpress.com has the fee breakdown for all the difference cards -- but AMEX has been running a promotion of fee free for first year:

    $65 yr / Rewards Green
$110 yr / Preferred Rewards Green
    $90 yr / Rewards Gold
$130 yr / Preferred Rewards Gold
