Anantomy of 800+ FICO scores

I have been doing some research and comparing reports of folks with 800+ FICO scores. I have looked at several reports and lot of the folks have long credit histories like: 20+ yrs. (1st cards are Sears or Diners club) and they generally have <10% credit utilization rates, maybe 3 inquiries or less, and no lates.

I have seen some reports 820-836 FICO scores with 9-14 credit cards. Some only had credit cards and no other installment loans or mortgage loans. So much for the optimal credit mix.

I even saw one with 800 FICO score, with just 5 yr. credit history, no inquiries and just 2 credit cards with credit limits of $8K & $12K and credit utilization of 33% with no lates.

What thoughts do you folks have on achieving high FICO scores?

One way would be to have daddys acountant pay your bills every month. But then you would probably be a spoiled rich brat and wouldn't care what your fico is anyway.

No exact science. But I've read/heard that the main things are good trade lines mix, low credit utilization, not too many inquiries, long credit history, and always on time payments. You've pointed these out so you already know. I really don't think that one can calculate EXACTLY like 1 + 1 = 2 how to get 800+ scores. I could be wrong though. If anybody here knows the exact formula I would like to know. =)

In the first place I never email anybody that don't email me first. Especially off a message board.

And no, I won't even tell you then because I consider that to be my business and my business alone.

I'm not going to pick a fight, but I understand why you would be reluctant. After all, it is a no-win situation for you, isn't it? Too low a score (in some people's opinion) and your credibility as a credit guru is questioned. If you posted "too high" a score and be called a liar...Don't blame you for holding your cards close to the vest...In your shoes, I would too.

By the way, I would be happy to email you if that means we can be friends...

    Take Care,
