Anyone receive this Equifax response to requesting rpt?

Mailed the original request for dh and my credit reports with attached copies of drivers license and social security cards. Two separate letters/two separate mailings.

    Received two letters from them:

    "Dear x

Your request concerning your Equifax file or credit score has been received and we are looking forward to serving you. Our records indicate that there are no recent business inquiries reporting on the credit file. Please resubmit your request with a copy of your declination letter dated within the past 60 days.

The charge for a disclosure is $11.50..."

We haven't requested our reports in years.

    Is this normal?

Didn't think my first fight would be just in getting a copy of my report.

    Many thanks for your time/explanation.

So, yes - I'm a newbie, in reading the FCRA page 63 Section 612 states that a report may be requested annually. I am not sure why I always self-doubt myself. But this is just a form of Equifax push-back of sorts perhaps?

To receive a FREE report, you MUST go through the FTC's free credit report home page, or download the specific form to request your FACTA credit report. Keep in mind, that disputes from the FACTA report have a 45 day response period, as opposed to the 30 day response period for a regular dispute.

Otherwise, you can only receive a report for free if you've been denied credit, are on certain types of benefits, have been the victim of identity theft, etc.

I so appreciate your reply, jam237. Thank you for the "minor" details.

    Have a great one.

And, I (hanging head) typed my response back to Equifax before your response. So, it's kind of a nutcase (lol) letter back to them. I think I worded it so that they would just provide the bleep report to get me out of their hair. btw Transunion provided the reports post haste.

    Stay tuned . . .

Have you tried simply using http://annualcreditreport.com to get your free credit report from Equifax? You get access to one credit report from each of the major credit bureaus every 12 months.

ps In my defense, I really get caught up in snail mail. The anticipation; opening the box and IT'S THERE!!!

Hahaha, I totally understand the snail mail anticipation. Well, at least when there's something really cool I bought on Amazon showing up at the front door!

Credit reports aren't that exciting, so I'd prefer to get them after just a few clicks of a mouse :).

From the Annual Credit Report web site, you can download a form that you can request your free credit report by mail. :) But you need to dig through the site a bit to find the link to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/manualRequestForm.action
