I went to the bank the other day to try and get a new account and they wouldnt let me because i was on chex systems. I really know nothing about that except they keep me on it for 7 years. What happened was i overdrew my account once in 1999 and once in 2002 i think? does anyone have any information on this? deedz
Were the amounts overdrawn later paid to the bank, so that no amount is currently due? If so, is Chexsystems reporting the overdrafts as paid, or still outstanding? I have heard that Chexsystems may actually report for less than 7 years. You might want to see if at least one of these is obsolete by their reporting policies.
washington mutual overlooks chex systems after 3 years, besides get a copy of your report and dispute worked for me or join a credit union like patelco.
Order your report from chex systems and then dispute the negative info, and it will probably get removed. I disputed mine and they were deleted. And there were about 4-6 negatives on there. honeycomb
Honeycomb. Was yours removed because it was a mistake or because you just fought against it? I am curious to know how you went about this.
The previous threads offer good advice. Chexsystems is another consumer reporting agency and must comply with the FCRA. If you get collection notices from them and they are trying to collect for a bank, then the FDCPA kicks in. For more strategies visit www.chexvictims.com. They have non-Chex, telecheck-only and credit report only bank listings as well.
Also the 5 years that I've been reading that they report? Is this after the debt has been paid off or even if the debt is still owed?
Each report submitted to ChexSystemsSM remains on our files for five years, unless the bank or credit union that filed the report requests its removal or ChexSystemsSM becomes obligated to remove it under applicable law. https://www.consumerdebit.com/consumerinfo/us/en/chexsystems/faqs.htm#P21_1234
Susan. Sorry for the late reply, I have not been on this site lately. Yes, some of the info was correct, some not, but and as far as I was concerned all the stuff had been on my chex report long enough, about 2 years. So I just disputed everything on there, and the inquiries too. honeycomb
Well I only have until October of this year and my 5 years is up so I might as well wait for that so that I can focus more on fixing my derog credit. Thanks for all the help guys. All my questions were answered. Thanks
