I was applying for Kohls Charge Card instant approval inside the store ad I didn't get instant approval. The system said "WE ARE SORRY,WE ARE UNABLE TO COMPLETE PROCESSING OF YOUR APPLICATION AT THIS TIME. WE WILL CONTACT YOU VIA MAIL ON SEVEN TO TEN DAYS." By the way they still give me 15 % off on my first purchases. It sound like they denied my application. Has anyone happened to him/her before at this situation? I don't know where they pulled credit report from?

I just called their credit department to check the status of the application and they told me I was denied. They pulled credit report from TransUnion and I have no negative on my credit report.

i got kohls.... but was denied initially... if your scores are over 650 tu (or clean as you indicated) I would do pfb reconsideration... it worked for me!

No loss if DENIED...I'm sure they take VISA/MC/AMEX/DISCOVERCARD

Ron, They did a favor to you. why to get another store account(?). Just use your 21k MBNA card or whatever else.

Maybe Ron is curious why he was denied when his TU CR looks good and Kohl's isn't usually that difficult to get.
As a Kohl's chargeholder, I recommend that if you call to find out, you go beyond the basic CS. I have found that they can answer only the most rudimentary questions. I am sorry that I don't have a number other than CS but if you call them you might see what I mean.
My guess for the no instant approval is that maybe they count recent inquiries very heavily in their credit determination and didn't you just apply for Case Disney which also might use TU?

Same thing happended to me. Got a letter a week later and they ran a TU.

Sent a letter requesting reasons and reconsideration. They sent back letter stating negatives and new accounts are too recent.

I did the the 15% at the store though.

    MandyB,

I applied for Disney Visa and they pulled credit report from Experian not TU. Recently I applied for Shell MC and they puilred from TU. I only have two inquiries within six months and no negative on my credit report. I thought retail store card is easy to get.

I guess each one is different. Kohl's opened 21 new stores in CA so I applied thinking they would want all the business they could get. Apparently, their credit criteria is not as easy as some retail stores.

Since the decision is instant it must be score based.

I thought the Kohl's card was easy to get also which is why I suggested the inquiries situation. I guess I got confused w/ your cards but I thought I remembered someone pulling TU for you. It does seem strange that w/ a clean report and a good credit profile they would deny you. If you find out why I would be interested in knowing.

For s atore card it is a tough to get and it is tougher than other retail cards like Sears and JC Penney.

    I was denied a second CHASE account because CHASE "THINKS" I have a "BAD" first account...but I never missed a payment in 2+ years...never late...never over-limit...

They even gave me 0.00% (BT) till 08/2003...WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT IF I HAVE A BAD ACCOUNT???

I guess you have to be late and over-limit TO HAVE A GOOD ACCOUNT???

I had no idea that Kohl's was hard to get. As has been noted here many times, these decisions just seem so random!
