And the credit line is... wait for it... don't go crazy... $100! HAAAAAAAHAA...Thats hillarious, but hey, got start over somewhere;) I'll take whatever they will give me! My first credit card in about 6 looooong years of awful credit:)Thanks to everyone:)

my mortgage broker told me to get a card like that...if the credit line is $200 should I only spend about $30 on it every month? I should never spend close to $200, right?

Careful with that card-- (I guess any acct. for that matter but...) Macy's has been extremely hard to deal with-- after a death in the family and job loss that significantly dropped my income for a while-- I fell behind in meeting the monthly minimum. While I ALWAYS made some sort of pmt. Macy's never stopped charging late fee's and interest fee's until they finally closed the acct. Now they have turned over to collection agency (omni) which I have a sneaking suspicion that it is some sort of "division" of Macy's-- anyway Omni refusing to accept anything less than 2700.00 (total bill is 3420.00) to settle this debt. Why they think this is possible is ludicrious! I was not able to make the monthly minimum of 165 so why they think this could be possible is beyond me-- so I have sent a debt validation letter (but I know I owe the debt and am willing to pay) just trying to buy some time I guess-- but the last conversation they said if their "offer" was not accepted by 1/26/07-- they would "proceed with steps to enforce the terms of the contract" whatever the h that means--

Anyway-- I am glad YOU seem to be on the right track now-- just be a bit cautious with this acct I guess--

**So sorry dear-- bringing you down definitely wasn't my intention-- just a friendly reminder to be a bit careful-- although sounds like you are doing just fine-- so congrats again--
and even on the verge of a possible lawsuit-- I still love the Macy's dept. store myself!! So enjoy!!

See ya later - I am signing off now to get a glass of wine to wash down my foot--sorry again!

    Hope B.

With Macy's being DSNB, you should qualify for a Bloomingdales as well. Just a thought . . .

In any event, use the card sparingly and in a month or two call in and request a "guideline" increase. Should yield a CLI without a hard pull on Experian. They tend to give them very frequently.

Good card in my opinion . . .

Hey Apex... I have question regarding this... I seem to be getting approved through experian. My question is this: When you say they pull experian, are they pulling from experian or fico? with experian(credit expert) my score is 633...with FICO(last i checked) it was 555...which one are they looking at? it cant be the FICO score? can it? thats just too low!

what bureau they pull from depends what part of the country you're located in. i don't know if it's true just what i've been told. they are also looking at your real fico not your fako (which is what you are probably pulling from e.g. freecreditreport.com)

congrats on getting a macy's card. personally i wouldn't apply for anymore dept store credit cards you're going to want a good mixture of cards. i started rebuilding my credit last year. i know where you are. but from my point of view there is light at the end of the tunnel. good luck.

okay, Macys is already reporting on my credit report! thats great! but, it is ONLY reporting to experian! I thought it reported to all three? and by the way, my score only increased 4 points...hmm... will it take like another month before it will report to the other 2? or will macys only report to experian? anyone know?

just curious if these approvals were instant online or if they required further processing? Requires a cc for Id validation?
I think I will wait a bit and try for one of these and then stop with new lines.
I have an auto loan from 9/06, Orchard since 9/05, just got Target, and CJ
Orchard was my only revolving until this weekend and it's only 300 bucks....
trying to hold tight and pace myself... didn't ruin my credit over nite can't expect to get it all back in a weekend :)
Never late on the Auto Loan 389.00 monthly and never late on that darn Orchard Bank.
I think I applied to Macy's a few yrs ago and was denied...whatever inq from 2 yrs ago is gone....and I don't remember having to put in a cc for id verification.....
    feedback...experiences... *thanks*

    Gratz!!!!

    Now use it carefully!

I am off the app train myself until after I get a mortgage but once that is done I'd like to get some emergency credit availible.

I'm making progress, got an old repo going to be updated to 0 balance and a bunch of pre Chap 7 debts going to be updated to IIB and 0 balance. Some med ca's are gonna be hippa'd to death and die slow painful deaths!

Made it to the lower 600's on FICO scores, don't pay any mind to FAKO scores btw, they are useless. My goal is mid 700's for now.

Good luck and keep on trying!

I have a macy's with a sorry limit of 100 as well but they said I can get a CLI after 3 months of on time payments, right now my balance is 19 dollars but I am going to paid that off on Tuesday, it is reporting to Equifax and Experian, I haven't checked with Transunion yet.
