Attn Tx People - Rjm Acq

I know that there are several people here from Texas that has had bad dealings with RJM Acquisitions. RJM could care less about our rights, much less the various letters we send them. As most of you already know, Texas requires all “Third Party Debt Collectors” to have a surety bond on file with the Secretary of State. RJM Acquisitions does not have the required bond on file, and therefore they are acting illegally by attempting to collect on debts in the Texas. If you have had dealing with them in the past, please take a moment to fill out a simple online complaint form with the Attorney General against RJM Acquisitions for not having posted the required surety bond. This company is VERY unscrupulous and they need to be taught a lesson. They have total disregard for everybody’s rights and feel that the FDCPA, FCRA, and State laws do not apply to them. If the Attorney General receives 1 complaint today, he might look into it, but if he receives 5, 10, 15, or 25 he will look into it. It will only take a few minutes of your time, and it might not only help you, but others as well. I will post the link to the online complaint form, and all of the required RJM information. I will post this on several credit boards today in hopes of generating as many complaints as possible.

I also realized they are collecting for a co that is not even showing on my cr anymore because SOL has expired. Any suggestions?

I received a letter from these jokers on 10-16-06 trying to collect on a 15 year old debt. In June, I received a letter from First National Collection Bureau, INC., Sparks, NV, trying to collect the same debt on behalf of RJM. I sent an expired SOL letter to FNCB. I am now sending one to RJM along with the correspondence sent to FNCB. I have also called the Texas Sec of State to see if RJM has posted their surety bond. Any agency doing collections in Texas must post a $10,000.00 surety bond. NO! So, I will also be filing a complaint with the TX AG and the FTC. The number to verify the surety bond of a company in Texas is 512-463-6906.

I am amazed and appauled that the state of Texas has not shut down a company that has defied their surety bond requirement. The bond is required to protect the public from companies like this breaking state industry rules.

In my experience with other state departments, a company operating without a bond is shut down the day the bond is not active. Any news as to whether or not your calls have had any effect?

Granted, I'm a total newbie, but I don't think Texas has the right or the power to shut down a company based in NY (see the address in the OP). The best they could do would be to bar them from conducting business in TX, which should include collection attempts against anyone in TX. If they fail to comply, all TX can do is take them to court and possibly get damages.

Or am I missing something?

That is correct. TX can not shut the company down, the only thing they can do is bar them from collecting in the state, and collect damages if allowed.
