[Note from Creditnet: The exact names of the accounts, exact length of time at an address, exact age, exact mortgage amount, exact monthly salary, and exact name of the employer were altered in order to ensure the privacy of the report being discussed.]

I had to share this with everyone. I work in the lending industry evaluating credit reports all day long. I have been in this position for 3 months and this is the first time I have seen anything close to the one I had today.

    PROFILE AGE 35
14 years as a mechanical engineer
    11 years at address - Mortgage 1250
    Salary 8500 monthly
    In bureau since 1986
    2 Auto loans payment $533 and $243
    REVOLVING
Bank credit card 16k Limit no Balance
Department store card closed in 95 0 Balance
Department store card 2k limit 0 Balance
Bank credit card 8k Limit 0 Balance

    INSTALLMENT LOANS
First line of credit 6K High Balance $46
Second line of credit 2k High Balance $0

*** Now mortgage seems to have been transferred 4 times in the last 8 years and each one is counted on bureau as an installment loan so EQIFAX reads 7 installment loans 4 revolving and 2 auto ?? IS THIS THE KEY TO 800

    EXPERIIAN score reads 846
    TRans reads 819

What do you think ? Is it time at residence and Job or is it the mix of credit ?? I am still in shock. I have seen many people that are in their 60's that have low 800's and high 790's but never anyone under 40 with these scores. I will post another report that has a 24 year old with a fico in the 800's and tell me what you think..

I'll tell you what I think - I don't like the idea of someone's credit rating and loan/cc/residency stats being posted w/out their permission.

I realize you've not given enough details to divulge who they are, but what if that was MY credit report I saw you talking about.

It may or not be illegal, but it certainly is unethical and it flies in the face of what I believe we're all working to achieve here.

To be clear, if you want to talk about YOUR credit score, balances, age, etc. that's great. Unless you have their permission - and if you did, I'd like to see it in the first line - I think you're way out of line here.

This is exactly our problem. "We" have these kind of unprofessional people making choices that affect our lives. This is a wonderful example of the kind of "power" that certain individuals feel they have when they have access to our personal financial details. I hope I have no business relationships with dinob12's institution. I would hate for my details to be discussed at Happy Hour. Good job on the show of poor class! Hopefully, dinob12 at least was smart enough not to post from work with the ip address logged.

Sorry, but that is my two cents!

Come on guys don't be so brutal, clearly dinob12 exercised poor judgment on his post. But I do not think that it was his intention to harm anyone. I personally think that he could have accomplished what he wanted to without posting the specifics.

I would imagine that the actual owner on that report could pursue legal action if he was to find out. In the future dino please be care full on what you post and think about the legal ramifications. I would think that your company would not be pleased if they found out you posted one of their clients info, albeit no names are mentioned but there are enough specifics for them to probably be able to pull and figure out whom it is. After all I do not think there is a huge amount of people with a 840 credit score.

Also when posting things keep in mind that we are on the age of technology and you never know if someone unscrupulous tries to track your employer and report this. After all ip's are traceable. Not trying to scare you just some friendly advice.

I don't think I was being brutal at all. I was quite laid back and pointing out how many ways this was wrong.

Yes, he could have posed the question another way. "I deal with CRs all day and saw an 840 the other day. That score was unusual because typically, people w/those scores are much, much older. This person was in their thirties and I suspect what boosted his score was the mortgage being transferred so many times. Have you guys had experiences w/moving your mortgage around and seeing a kick in your score?"

I don't think it was brutal at all. It's one thing to give general info on a person, but to post specific balances, names of creditor, etc...... That's wrong.

Why are you guys complaining about this guy posting details??? He didn't give anywhere near enough info to violate this guy's privacy. You people on here spend all day complaining that the credit scoring process isn't transparent, so you should be thankful when one or two "insiders"-so to speak-gives you a few clues.

If everyone posted HONEST info about the credit scores, balances, accounts and so forth, maybe this whole credit mystery would be easier to understand. I for one, have to confidence that people will honestly self-report everything.

I'm very interested to know more, obviously not about this specific person, but more in general about the credit profiles that will sink or make a credit score. Keep em coming, just exercize judgement and maybe eliminate the names of the accounts this person has. You know, just say "revolving credit" instead of Bank of America, etc...

Steve, would you like to see YOUR credit history being discussed here by someone YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW because you made an application for a loan?

That answer to that question could go either way. I probably wouldnt mind disclosing my bank names, CLs, balances and such in support of figuring out what people don't always understand(FICO). In this case, I'm sure EVERYONE who has ever spent one minute reading this board(in the name of repairing their credit) has wondered what it takes to get an 800 score...840s are the top 1/10 of 1% of the credit community, so I'm even more curious. Now divulging his job info, other than how long he was there is something else. He could have just said he's been at the same job for XX years and been done with it.

Let me try asking it more specifically. You say you "probably wouldn't mind". How about (a) you were never asked, (b) this discussion in no way benefits you, just those on a public forum and then (c) you find out that someone you submitted a loan application to, who you and their business place trust in, was the person who did this (d) without your knowledge?

Again, YOU benefit in no way AND you were never asked by someone TRUSTED with YOUR stats.

    Your missing the point.

It's a matter of principle. The fact is, no one with access to ones personal information (we all agree ones credit report is considered personal) should post any content of such reports. If the 34 year old applicant posted it himself to show us his 800+ FICO report, then I have no problem. However, a lender posting this kind of information (no matter how vague) is just plain wrong.

Others here may feel differently and your entitled to your opinion.

A lender isn't allowed to disclose info but a CRA is allowed to sell your information to telemarketing agencies. I wonder how that's fair???? Not making a judgement call on this one, just pointing out the inconsistency.

Perhaps some more info on the process for selling your info would help. It's not the same thing at all.

A promotional inquiry works like this. Supposed I'm looking for everyone who has had a BK in the last year. I give my input specs to one of the CRAs and get back a mailing list I can use for my offer. I don't get their credit info, only a name/address for contact.

You can refine this a bit, so I'll show how this black box interface can be used in conjunction w/the information disclosed above. Supposed I created a query for anyone with a FICO over 800 *and* under the age of 35. I suspect that's a very short list...

Dinob12, thanks for that profile! This is the kind of information that we all badly need. Dont pay any attention to the soap box personal privacy rants, the kids that work at Blockbuster Video can get all of this information anyway if you give them your SS on application.

Here is my take on the reasons for high score:

    1. Length of credit history.

    2. Length of mortgage history.

    3. No revolving balance.

    4. Less than 4 revolving accounts.

Keep up the good work, this kind of stuff can set us free.

This is an 800 plus profile formula Dinob12 has handed us on a silver platter and the majority of posts in response are complaining about it? I believe all would be better served examining the content of the post rather than discouraging anyone from doing this in the future. This is the first infomation of this detail I have seen here and I want to see more of it.
