OK so I know I was curious about airline miles a couple of weeks ago, but now my curiosity brings me to the ground, namely gas cards.

Can anyone tell me which card saves the most on gas? These cards do exist, right? And does anyone in the forum have experience w/ any so-called gas cards? Thanks again in advance.

It depends upon the countries and there credit card agencies's rules.

This is a good question to bring up every several months or so since credit card offers - especially those pertaining to gas purchases - change so frequently.

Right now (7/15/2013), the two cards that offer the best cash back deals on gas purchases are the Discover it Card and the Chase Freedom card. Both include up to 5 percent cash back on up to $1,500 in purchases made at US gas stations through September with enrollment, for a maximum of $75 in bonus cash back earned. (Both offer 1 percent cash back on all other purchases.) The bonus cash on gas is temporary, but at the moment no cards offer more for fuel pump purchases. These are no annual fee credit cards, too, so they're essentially free to carry if you keep your balance at zero (to avoid interest).

Long-term, the Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express is the one we recommend most since it offers an unlimited 3 percent cash back at US gas stations throughout the year. This card is, in a word, Awesome.; it also offers 6 percent cash back on up to $6k per year on grocery purchases made at US supermarkets. There IS an annual fee of $75 a year, but that might be a worthwhile investment considering how much cash back you can stand to earn.

If you're in the US and you have good-to-excellent credit (that's what it takes to get approved for this card), you really can't do better than these 3 credit cards for gas purchases, in my opinion.

OK, so I applied for the AmEx Preferred card but was approved for the Blue Cash Everyday Card instead. I'm not sure if it was because my FICO was too low for preferred or what, but overall I'm very happy. No annual fee, bonus cash on gas and groceries and no interest on purchases for 12 months!

I can't post links yet but I would absolutely suggest CN users check this card out.

Right now I am using PenFed Platinum Rewards Visa Card because it gives better rewards for saving on gas and found to be best gas card among its competitors.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I still prefer the above Discover and AmEx cards for gas, but this is a pretty good option if your credit is in the excellent range.

If you have average credit, I would suggest the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard for Average Credit. 2x the points on gas, groceries and utilities. Here's our review: Barclaycard® Rewards MasterCard® - Average Credit Review - Creditnet.com

Which card are you suggesting? You seemed to leave the most important part of your post out :)

Today, the Bank Of American Rewards Card give you (among other cash back options) 3% on gasoline.

I'm getting 4% on my new Costco Anywhere Card by Citi for up to $7,000 in annual gas spend. Not too shabby.
