What's the best way to get a wrong address off a CR Calling or writing? If it's calling how do I know they take it off? Thanks:)

I did it by calling. You know they took it off, because it is a dispute and they send you a copy of your CR after they make the change.

Addresses are the easiest thing to delete. Just ask to to remove them and they will..........even if you have 10 of them.

The one thing I forgot to add was that if you deal with a local affiliate of one of the 3 Morons, you may not be able to call in the address dispute. TU and EX let me call it in, EQ makes me deal with a local CBC affiliate, when I called them they told me to send it in writing. They all took them off with no complaints. I mean really, who better to verify that stuff with than you? It's almost like they are doing something right :)

About the address thing...how long can they retain really, really old addresses? Both my husband and I have addresses on all 3 CRAs from 10-12 years ago--he hasn't lived in Virginia since 1990.

I asked the CRAs about that and if I remember correctly the response is "well, you lived there at one time...." I responded, "yes, more than 7 years ago, so if that rule applies to adverse accounts, shouldn't it apply to addresses?"

Anyone asked to get really, really old addresses off? If nothing else we need to get the wrong names and incorrect versions of the addresses corrected I guess...and get another CR in the process.

I went into my local experian affiliate office 2 1/2 weeks ago. I made a copy of my address page and crossed off the wrong addresses and put my correct date of birth. It still hasn't been corrected. I called and was told they have to do an investigation. I told her that no one had called me to verify yet. She then tells me they have to verify with the reporters of the info rather than the person who should know - ME. What a bunch of loser morons.

So does that mean that if the original reporter of the info reports incorrect info, it is verified as correct?

Thats crap, They have me down at an address I've never lived at. Also as living at my grandpartents, in MO which I have never lived at. I haven't even lived in MO since I was 9! :)

I just sent them a CRR letter stating that all the addresses (there must have been about 30 of them) were inaccurate. I just got my reports yesterday and they were all deleted. That was the easiest thing I have had to do so far.

As far as where they get the addresses, I don't know. My husband and I were just discussing it and we guess it comes from applications that are processed wrong. How the CRA's verify this is through the creditor and the creditor is always right.

I guess our only recourse is to keep a close eye on these things and dispute them as they come up. I'm still trying to get a social security number removed. It's not mine and I don't want it on my report.

Do you ( Anyone) thinks it a ok idea to dispute address, while I have other disputes going on. Or should I just add them to my next round of diputes? Thanks

    :)

    LKH,

Many years ago, someone changed ny address to Dallas...never lived there...and it annoyed me to death that it happened. With then-TRW, they also said they'd have to investigate to see if it was correct, with the creditors.. my argument is that you are seraiouly going back to the creditor that reported the wrong address and believe them over ME? Their response was yes. Give me a break....at least it got fixed and that was the end of that. But at the time it totally riled me up, like you described (don't you know that we really don't know where we live or get mail?!).

I just called EQ and told them about a bad WI address and she took it off while I was on the phone. At least something is starting to go my way.
