Amex turned me down. Which card should I go for with my scores (see signature below). Also, is there a list available that shows which credit report a bank will use?

    Thanks!

    ACS,
I know this will not help but I am chasing that green card myself. I cannot believe that they turned you with those scores. Maybe they pulled your TU, did you have any derogs. I have been keeping an eye on the Amex requirements. bEsides your scores which are pretty decent what were the other factors did you call them here is a number someone posted
18009627227, maybe you can call and talk to them.

I highly recommend applying for the Green first and then applying for the Blue.

If accepted for the Green, but denied for the Blue, call AmEx MORE (do a search on this board) and state your case for a Blue reconsideration.

It worked for me (I applied for Green for an instant approval and an hour later applied for Blue for an instant denial) when I called MORE, and my Equifax score was "below 663" based on their credit report.

The Blue approval came the next day.

Marci, I know you are all sick of my questions about Amex, but it is one of my goals. what was your score and what did they pull. I am keeping track of all of this, so I can factor my chances.

Just hung up with Amex. They pulled my Equifax report and the reason that I was turned down is because I have too many recent inquiries within the past six months!

I looked at my recent EQ report dated 6/3/02 and Get this, of the 47 recent inquiries, 30 inquiries are from EQ between 3/22/02 through 6/3/02! Of those, 13 are from EQ Consumer Services (I got Credit Watch for 30 days during my free trial.)

How should I proceed... Do I simply request for EQ to remove their inquiries?

    Thanks!

kbanger - not sure how to tell the difference between hard and soft inquiries. Let me know how, I have the report right in front of me now...

marci - which green card are you referring to? I want to try your strategy!

    Thanks!

Green is the basic green amex card with no pre-determined limit. A hard is one some else pulls a soft is one you pull yourself

okay, then they're all Hard except for the one I pulled in June. That's just foul and I'm getting ill...

What can I do about this nonsense?

    Thanks!

ACS 1122, If they are all hard your score would be terrible do they say equifax or experian or whatever before them?

they all start with Equifax in front. Here is how they are listed and how many times they were listed.....

    CD-Equifax Consumer Services (5x)
    Equifax Consumer Services (6x)
    Equifax Disclosure (4x)
    ID-Equifax Consumer Services (1x)
    Equifax Auto update (6x)

    Are these hard or soft?

Soft, they are ones you requested or ones equifax did when they updated your file or did something to it. These should not hurt you. I would call amex back and say take a look and see that these were not requests for credit, but my own and equifax inquires. Did you use the number i posted? I am just keeping track of amex stuff. My score is nowhere in the region to apply. But when I do apply amex will have only one thing to say Welcome Kbanger

Yes, they closed at 11 est. (bummer) I'll call them again in the morning to request a reconsideration based on tonight's posts!

Thanks a million and I'll post the results tomorrow, or as they come. Wish me luck...

You can't transfer an Optima to a Blue.
