There is a Collection Agency on my credit report for a medical bill. My insurance did not pay the whole bill. I would like to get the Collection Agency off my credit report. I am willing to pay the the rest of the bill, but I want the tradeline removed. My question is this whom do I deal with the Collection Agency or Origional Credtitor?

Did the OC send you a bill for the difference, and did that difference comply with any contract they had with your insurance company (i.e. was the amount your allowed co-pay)?

The insurance says I owe 16.00. When I first called the OC they said I did not owe anything then the lady did the math and I owe 16.00.

Tell the OC to send you a bill.

So why didn't you just pay the 16 bucks and be done with it then???????

Sure beats 2 dings on your credit 1 from the oc and another 1 from the CA.

I just don't see how it was worth this for a lousy 16 dollars! !

If that is the case, tell the OC they haven't sent you a correct and final bill. That their billing department first told you there was no amount due, then later told you $16 was due, but they have as yet not sent you a final bill for the $16 they claim is due, apparently sending it to collection without billing you.

Also tell them to pull the account back from the CA, since sending an account to collection without first billing you has caused them to place a false entry on your credit report implying you don't pay your bills, when they have never sent you a correct bill. Send it to the hospital administrator, or the doctor directly, if this is the party they are handling billing for, with a copy sent to the billing department.

If the error was committed by the OC, they should fix it.
