In November 2002, I disputed an old collection account that was paid in March of 2000 for $92.

This account was on both my Experian and Equifax, but not on TU. I disputed it hoping they would not verifiy since it was paid and three years old.

Well, they did verify on both Experian and EQ. Fine.

I pulled my TU this week and found it was now listed on there as well. It was never on there before.

I contacted the CA and asked them why a 3 year paid collection was now being reported.

Their response was "We report to all 3 CRA's"

Here's the question:

Are CA's allowed to verify an account to a CRA when the CRA never asked them to do so? Other words, when a dispute comes in from a CRA, arn't they supposed to respond back to THAT CRA?

I hope my question is clear.

Thanks...
