Can I get my CitiBank card reopened

I had a CitiBank card that was closed because I was late over six months more than once. Once I got a job on July 2001 I started repaying $6700 (on a $5000) limit and it's now paid off. I called and said I wanted it open and explained why it was late to begin with. I asked for a $250 credit limit, or $5, or whatever they could give me as long as it was open. I got declined because it had been closed over a year. The reason I waited over a year is because I wanted it paid off before I asked for it to be reopened. This is my first card and the oldest and for credit and sentimentality issues I'd like it open. When I asked who else can I have review my account I was told the people who could review the acct already had.

I've repaid over $6700 and all I want is a $250 limit. I'm even willing to send the money in as collateral. All I'd really like is to have that card reopened.

    Any ideas?

    How does that work?

Can you use aliases in there? I don't want to announce that information to the world, specifically to certain people in the world that have internet access and could pass on that information to certain family members who think I've never been in debt.

You obviously have to identify yourself to whomever you are going to write. That means Planetfeedback will know who you are too. But you do not have to make your letter public.

Ah, I'll definitely try that. Including the Citibank debt I've paid over 12k of debt since July 2001 and have since then a perfect history. I'm as rehabilitated as they come.

So all I do is put all this in writing and submit it? How does the process work?

You select a company and what type of letter you want to write. You can then go through a fill-in-the-blanks thing that generates a really lousy letter that they will send on your behalf.

I always fill the blanks in with nonsense and type my own letter in afterwards.

It really works, most of the time you get a company's attention really quick.

If I were a betting man, though (and I am) I'd bet they will not reopen the account and will tell you to apply if you want a card. Hopefully I'm wrong.

When you go to planetfeedback.com, the email you send will go to their executive offices. You explain your situation, and try to appeal to their "nicer side".

Here's my experience with them though. Several years ago, I also defaulted on a citicard I had. They closed it. I paid off the balance after over a year on a payment plan, and called to see if I could get it reoppened.. they refused saying it was too late. I should mention that I never knew about planetfeedback... heck, I don't think it existed back then. But anyway, I had to apply with them all over again.

Hope planetfeedback works for you.. it just might

I just did that with an old BofA credit card. I cancelled it in 09/02 and just had it re-instated 03/03 -- same credit card number and all. they did, however, have to run a hard credit check but I think the length of history will offset the score drop.
