Need help. I went to apply for a mortgage today and the loan officer showed me my credit report...and behold I saw a derogatory account posted by Capitol one for &7,589!

Ofcourse I dont have a capitol one card for that high of a limit. And from what I read on this forum they are pretty stingy with the credit limits.

Only Transunion is reporting this..Brought score down 70 points

I called the 800 number (recording) 1-888-298-2919 that was listed in the derog.
The recording said thet were Capitol one / wesoreland agency. Im guessing capitol started a collection agency. Said they were close, plus I really dont want to talk to them

I would like to call transunion on the phone and get this deleted asap, since I need to close on the house by Aug 27. How should I word my call to them? Any thoughts?

    Thankyou,

WestMoreland Agency has been a CA owned by C1, for *YEARS*; WMA is the source of those 'pre-approved' offers that C1 sends out on post-SOL debts, to sucker consumers in, if you read the fine print, if you accept this offer, your debt will become serviced by WestMoreland Agency, or some other such verbaige.

Before doing anything with the CRA, *ALWAYS* send a dispute/validation letter.

Does the trade line say when this alleged account was opened?

An under 2 week deletion will be next to impossible; unless you can get C1/WMA to close the account when you dispute it; luckily the one account that I had allegedly from them, all it took was a strongly worded validation notice (I wish I still had a copy of it, but this was at least seven years ago, and 3 or more computers ago), and it was closed on their systems within 3 days of them receiving the validation notice.

Even if you speak to TU on the phone, C1/WMA has the 30 day time limit to respond, under the FCRA.

Even if TU receives a deletion request from C1/WMA, TU has a lag-time of almost a week (sometimes more) in processing updates.

    lb:

How do many incorrect entries get on consumers credit reports, in the effort to 'skip trace' they get over-zealous, far reaching, and end up doing the equivelent of the 'scrub' list fiasco in FLA, where just having the same name, or being born on the same date as a 'felon', many voters found out that their rights to vote were taken away.

Well, if the name is close to what we have, this must be the same person, they just listed their phone number under a different middle initial to try to evade us.
