Well, i got my card today. I got a 2k limit with a $400 cash limit available. It's the largest limit yet. Also, I have an orchard card on the way with a $500 limit. Not too bad to start the year with!

Congrat Mom!!! My limit was only 700 w/a $150 cash advance, but I can't complain too much considering EVERYBODY (and I mean everybody, no negatives and even Orchard and First Premeire would not give me a card) else turned me down for no revolving history. So I will always keep that in mind with this card. Have you ever been to a Carter Lumber before? The website makes it look like it is STRICTLY lumber, I do not want to drive 2 hours away if so. I will drive though if it is more like a Home Depot or a Lowes. Do you know??

Nope, I had never heard of this comany until the posting about ithe card being easy to get. I don't know if I can order stuff on the website or not but maybe I will use it for a few atms, pay it back, and try to use this card to get more access to conseco credit products.

I think you can check on the website and see where they are located. BTW, who did they pull for you? They pulled TU and I have a fako of 625.

That is what I did, used the cash advance to get it on my report. The website shows the nearest one to me to be 2 hours away. The website makes it look like it is just lumber, but I find it hard to believe if it was strictly lumber, that they would advertise and give out so many cc's.

They also sell plumbing and electrical supplies, as well as things like doors and windows.

If you have a menards near you(I love this store) and could get the carter lumber you may want to try the menards card or heck if you just want some credit on your report. they are both run by conseco and I got a menards with a 641 or something like that during chod month. also, menards can be used at a few other stores whose names I forget. They gave my wife 2k while carter lumber gave her 1.5k and me 2k so they like big limits(at least for me) and they do get it on your report within the month.

The Menards Big Card is also good at:

Gander Mountain (upper mid-west sporting goodsstore)
    Leath Furniture
    Speedway/Superamerica Gas Stations
    Holiday Gas Stations

The Menards and Carter Lumber cards are issued by Mill Creek Bank which is a division of Conseco, Inc.

I got a Menards Big Card with a $3,000 limit and a cash advance limit of $650. They pulled TU on me and I got approved immediately online.

I bought most everything for my house at Menards.
I love going in there, but you have to watch out. All us guys are looking up at the displays-not where we're going. Likely to get hit with a cart!

Oh, i wonder should I apply. It would be nice to have a menard's card. Too bad we can't do a quick dispute on TU so I can assure myself of getting the card. It's so tempting.....

How long did you have the carter's before you got the menards?

Can you pay these cards on-line? Specifically the lumber card? They sent me a bill within 1 week.

Carter Lumber has some good stuff. Although the one nearest me closed down a few years ago, I used to go in there all the time.

It is kind of like a mini Lowes or Home Depot. You can buy garden utensils, snow shovels, paint, bath vanities, etc.

I always liked Carter Lumber. They turned me down for a card though (pout).

crap crap crap. menards just changed providers and are no longer with conseco. They are now with, shudder, gag, household bank. I HATE this company. that may be why it suddenly got more difficult to apply for. Also, they no longer offer ATM withdrawals on your menards card although I am sure household with insert it later along with their famous $20 atm fee. I did find that if you live more in the southwest there is a place called mccoys at mccoys.com that also does home improvement stuff. I applied there tonight because I need to offset my stupid 80/20 home loan and they gave me a crappy $750 which is better than nothing I guess. I got it with an equifax of 613 which is not bad considering 613 kinda sucks.I was not approved instantly but they give you a number and app# to call and when I called 2 hours later it said I was approved. For all you carter lumber people this may be another way to get a card and up your available credit. Of course it brings down your average time on accounts and adds more credit but hey I need all I can get for now.
