CAs are gone. What's next?

Any CA that was on any report is now gone. The only blemish I have left is a 30d late on a Chase card. I have had only one two-day-late payment since July '05, which was some time in '06 (July or August I think). I will be sending the goodwill adjustment letter, in hopes that it works as well as the last one I sent (granted, that was sent to a bank that likes me).

Has anyone had success recently with the Citi BDD? It sounds like a great chance to get a card with a good sized limit. I'm looking for a limit between $12k and $20k, which would more than make my util. ratio comfortably low.

I feel as though I need two to three more cards to round out my credit portfolio. I think it would be a good idea to apply now; as soon as the accounts age I'll have a good sturdy foundation. Any thoughts?

What are your recent FICO scores (not FAKOs), and is your income sufficient to warrant/support a credit limit of this size?

I haven't checked myFICO yet, but I am almost positive i'm somewhere between 700-720. My income is a big question since I just went self-employed in January. I will be back to a W-2 job in May or June. Perhaps I should wait until then. Income will start around $40k.

It's also worth mentioning that I currently have one card with a CL of $12k.

If you're looking for high limit cards, Citi is not the place to start. Bank of America is the company to look to. They can get almost ridiculous.

Good to know. As I'm only looking for the high limit to reduce my util. ratio, ridiculous is right up my alley.

Maybe it depends on the person, or maybe they've changed since they've been MBNA-ized, but while BoA gave me pretty high limits, Chase was even more ridiculous for me.

I agree that Citi isn't as generous.

I had a $15K limit with National City, but I cut the card up about 2 months ago.

Chase gave me 50K very fast.
Citi I got 7500 and had to work for it.

May I ask which specific cards Chase and B of A are giving these high limits on? Thanks.

Thanks Hedwig. Can you tell me what one might expect regarding initial credit limits for each of these cards? A friend of mine is seeking one high limit card. His FICO is 690 and his reports show only 2 perfect auto loans and no revolving history. He has no negative accounts or late pays...just the 2 autos. One is paid in full as agreed. Any advice anyone? Thanks.

NG

Hey apexcrsrv,

If you read this, please let me know if you think my friend would benefit substantially from adding an authorized user account before applying for a CC. Thanks.

I've had all of the cards for at least several years. I've had the United and one USAirways for over a decade and a half.

I really couldn't tell you what the requirements or initial limits are now.

Both the Marriott and my second USAirways started with between $20-25K, but it's been at least three years, maybe more since I got them.

Oh Lord yes . . . if we'd place a ten-year old account on his reports, he'd have a 750 without question. He just needs some history and avaliable credit.

Apex,

Do you think my friend would be approved for the cards mentioned by Hedwig by doing this? Do you know of any other high limit cards he might pursue? Thanks.

Yes. I would go for the Citi Flex Line if it had to be Citi or BOA. Chase is pretty good to as Hedwig stated. However, you can bump up a limit with BOA quickly without the hard pulls.

Mine was a Platinum. CITI I can't remember.
WHen I had CITI to get an increase I would have to call up every few months to ask for an increase in credit line.
Chase, well they started me out with 15K and it just kept climbing and I never asked for any higher limits.
I don't have EITHER anymore though.
Just three CC's now, with the highest limit at 9K.
