Hi all! My daughter applied for a student AMEX Blue...is there a way to check on the application per phone or do you have to talk to a CS rep?

    Thanks!

I think one is only business hours...the other one 24/7

Thanks to you both! Is it automatic? And, how long after applying can you check on it? Thanks a million!

You're welcome. It is automatic and you can check the status at soon as 30 minutes post application submission.

If she gets it tells us what her score was like, what they pulled and what state you are in. Thanks so much. I working on getting an Amex. Gotta get those scores up. Big UP to the Board Vets. Keep doing your thing. We newbies have nothing but LOVE for you all

Oh, I went to check for daughter and it took her SS# and then it was going to transfer me. As I was doing this for daughter, I hung up. Maybe too soon? Or is this a bad thing?

    Waving at Nana:)

Well I would think it may be too soon, or they might need additional information.

I don't think it is a bad sign, when they deny you they have no problem telling you right there on the automated system.

Waving right back to you! HI, Mom!

That's a big relief. I'm hoping to get her into a good credit card that she can trust. She has a good credit report but only 2 cards (she's 21). She has 3 years at Cap1 with one 30-day late, the rest perfect. Hoping that won't hurt her on this.

So..we shall see! Will let everyone know...guess I"ll check again tomorrow on the phone!
    Thanks!

    New question

For those of you who have been declined or approved for AMEX Blue, my question is this...did the "declines" come quickly or did they take some time? How about the approvals?

Daughter called and they said processing takes 24-48 hours...so the good news is she wasn't declined yet.

    All info greatly appreciated!

    Re: New question

My friend applied for an Amex green was told right then and there on the phone....NO
This is only about two weeks ago. Does anyone know out of blue, green or optima, which one is the easiest to get. (I know tough question, I know some one out there has had all three and then some)

    Re: New question

I got my AMEX (which I closed before I knew what I was doing)...as a student. It was so easy that way! It was green as they had no blue at the time (giving away my age!) Thanks for the decline info...

can others share their info as well? Thanks

    Re: New question

I just applied for Blue last week, I am 21 and a student also. The automated system didn't give me an answer, it kept saying I will receive notification in XX business days.

I called almost everyday, but got the card in the mail finally. I got 0% for 6 months, 9.9% fixed after, with $12,000 credit line. Amex has been good to me. DO NOT apply for Blue for students, it's the exact same card, but with a MUCH higher interest rate!!

This is my first card to break a $10k limit, besides my platinum charge card that supposedly has no limit.

    Re: New question

Hello, I was thinking and if anyone else has an idea let me know. I know I am older than 21, but if I enrolled in say a college night class, aren't I a student again and should be able to get a student amex? Alright everyone stop laughing, just wishful thinking from a man who only wants one tiny little amex card.

Kbanger - I like your ending phrases on your message - open up some chairs...great!

I am still low 600s average on all three reports -

I think you are supposed to be a full-time student to get a student card. But then again, I got a student discover card when I first turned 18, and they never asked for any proof of enrollment or anything. Honestly, I think they just look at your age, and assume you are a student.

I didn't want the student card though, why get a card with a higher rate when you dont have to?

Student card just means "higher rate." There is nothing different between a student card and a regular card, they are both extending you credit!

Dog my Man, The 600 club has to give up some chairs, you see how the 700 club is vacating their seats from the 720s to 750 and like George and Weezie they just keep moving on up. I have noticed that some people are in the 650 and up club and are sticking around for who know what. Hurry Get out of the Club, us in the 500 club want some good credit too, Hell we want some great credit (that is all of you in the 700s) but like I said before we are realistic about the Credit Gods and Gurus (the 800 club) so to them we say enjoy your platinum cards your low apr and choice of whatever you want. Because we will too when we get there. LOL

She was denied...for the Optima card..is that the student card? I'm confused!

Ok, she was denied for not having enough credit experience (huh?). Wierd for a student card! So, I'm off to see what I can get her..anyone have any idea of a student card that actually is geared for a student establishing credit?

    LOL

So much for them giving out credit cards like candy to students as we thought....
