    Friends,

I'm just a bit surprised, but quite pleased, that today I received approval for a Citi AAdvantage MasterCard. I believe it was Sam who encouraged me to do so.

I've never thought of it as a prime card, more like a tweener. But I can't get any more prime approvals with my high balances, so I'm happy to get the AAdvantage card.

I got the "7 to 10 days" message when I applied online, and wasn't about to get my hopes up. But today, on the 10th day, I got the approval letter from Citibank.

    A few highlights:

"Some details of your card agreement may be different from the terms that were disclosed on your application."

"Information regarding your purchase APR and any applicable promotional rate...will be displayed on the folder containing the card."

No credit limit was mentioned either. I won't know until I receive the card and folder, but I would guess it's at least $2000.

    Ackowledgements:

Roni was the leader in publicizing the AAdvantage card, and deserves credit for that. Others gave us details about combining cards, upgrading to Platinum Select, etc.

Before any of them, Steven Z said that rewards cards were the easiest way to get approved by any particular bank. Now I'll see if that theory works with Amex. I applied for the Delta SkyMiles card on the same day as the AAdvantage card.

Saar mentioned that it's easier to get a new card from Citibank than a limit increase. Sam said the same thing when he encouraged me to apply.

Thanks everyone, and any advice would be welcome.

don't be suprised if the limit turns out to be huge. I got the same response you got. The card came 2 days later with a limit of $10.000

    Mindy,

Platinum would be nice! I'm happy for you. I have two other Citibank cards, a Classic MasterCard and a ClickCiti Platinum Select MasterCard. But the ClickCiti card, apparently no longer offered at the Citi website, isn't the kind you can just whip out to buy things. It has no magnetic strip, only an account number.

    Thank You, Dave.

I'm looking for this card to replace my Cap One Visa, and provide me with more credit in the process.
If the limit is anything over $900, it will more than replace the "marble green dinosaur."

Uh, Sam, I called Citibank and they told me nothing. The vacuum brain on the other end said I only have 2 cards and he can't tell me anything about the new one without an account number.

Uh, Sam, what can I do now? Is there some special number I can call? Or when you said to call them, were you referring to some organization other than Citibank?

not sure. I called up before i got the card. They know you have it, its on their system as "not being activated yet", and by "product line".

Ask them again. Thats odd. You can always call the 301 # for application request but they should know your credit limit and have the card # (they won't tell you the card #).

    wierd.
