I just converted my Citi AAdvantage to their Platinum Select card. Could/should I apply for the AAdvantage again and upgrade to the AAdvantage Platinum? -Om
Why not, what do you have to lose. I always say, start small and convert to larger things. Also, how long have you had the Citi account open? It really helps if you have some established credit with Citi and no recent derogs in the last 2 years. Good Luck, If you get it, I want HALF lol
I've had the account for about 30 days. I just figured that since I had been approved for the AAdvantage once before, there should be no problem. As for the terms, I didn't really ask for any. Should I have asked for something specific? I simply called and said that I would rather have the the Platinum card and she said no problem almost instantly. She initially thought I wanted the AAdvantage Platinum and said my annual fee was going to increase. When I told her that I just wanted the Platnum Select she informed me that there would be no annual fee and that my APR dropped a little over 2 points. -Om
what about balance tranfers? did you ask for no fees for that? and what about promtional apr for 6months? If I transfer I am going to try to get 2.9 or 5 %apr for 6 months, after that a fixed rate of .9apr . no fee for balance transfers. heheheheh yes I know I am dreaming. but you never know. and of course no annual fee
Unless you will use the airline miles. I would suggest if you are going to try another AA card and convert again, then I suggest converting to the plat select dividend card, this has no fee and you earn a little cash back.
Acually, I just applied for that one and was approved for a 4k credit line. Transfered my Capitol One balance over too. -Om
It's good to have two citi platinum cards, that way you can keep one at home and use it for BT's and not use it. And one for purchases.
