I sent a goodwill letter via CRRR to Citibank asking them to remove the late payment history from an account they closed in 1998 due to delinquency and I paid off in 2001. The lates were 1 - 120, 2 - 90, and 2 - 60. It also had the "closed by credit grantor" notation. I got a letter back saying that if I thought there were inaccuracies on my credit report to send them a copy and they would investigate. I didnt' think they were getting the whole idea of "goodwill" vs. "wrong information", so I decided to send the same letter through PFB. Just got a letter today from the office of the president saying that in a one time act of goodwill they have sent a letter to all CRA's to delete the trade line. YEA!!! I guess you guys were right and persistence does work. Now I'm waiting for PFB replies form MBNA and Macy's. Cross your fingers for me!
Just like that? I did the same to Associates/Citi (probably different office) and acomplished nothing. I fired out a nutcase letter (per PsychDoc recommendation) and hope that will work. I'm happy for you. Congratulations!!!
I'm also sending off a goodwill letter to Citibank SLC for a few "late payment" removals... In fact, I just sealed the envelope! However, I'm a little concerned now... I believe my goodwill letter is very clear regarding my motive... Should I send all my credit reports? Also, you mentioned sending the same letter through "PFB" ... PFB? Thanks!
wildbill, DO NOT send your CR's to Citibank, they do not need them to review your account. Also, where/who are you sending the goodwill to? PFB goes directly to Citibank's executive office. This is who you want to communicate with - not customer service or the accounting dept. good luck!
Wildbill, I was actually late on my account and they were reporting that correctly so sending them my credit reports would have done nothing to get rid of the late pays. I just wanted them (in an act of goodwill) to delete the lates or the account. If you're disputing info that is legitimately incorrect and you want them to correct it, I guess it wouldn't hurt to send your reports. From reading other posts here, it seems like people have more luck with PFB than with regular mail, but I sent both so if you already sent your letter and don't get the response you want try PFB. Good luck!
Very good point Javan. My letter response did come from some customer service dept somwhere, and the PFB came from the office of the president.
Or if you would like to fax it directly to the executive offices here the link with the info: http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...7466&highlight=goodwill+adjustment#post147466
