I don't get the strategy either. I get Bt checks every month from both Discover and Citibank and the offers overlap.

    Citibank

3.99% until Nov 21, 2003 until paid in full
3.90% until Sep 26, 2003 until paid in full
5.90% until Sep 26, 2003 until paid in full

I guess they figure that I'll forget about the 3.90% and take them up on the newer 3.99%.

Great BT rates if I had anything to transfer. Yet they still increased my purchase rate to prime + 10.99% (14.99%).

I don't get it. I guess they figure that they haven't made money off me in years so why fight to keep me.

They are right, you should take the offer that is best for you. I just took the 3.9% till paid, and paid them off on a 6.9 till 6/04. Citi is not the only bank that does not have software to stop them from making offers that will save you money. You have to be on the lookout for these offers. You can make money with your credit. I do.

I had a similar situation that I think I posted several weeks ago. BT offers online, for the same period of time, at different rates. Who in their right mind would go for the higher rate?

(I guess they hope some people are not in their right mind?)

"IF" the 2.00% higher rate was for 6 months longer...I "MIGHT" take it...

BUT IT WAS FOR THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME!!!

    They offered me:

    5.9% till Sept. 21, 2003
    and
    8.99% till sept 21, 2003

This is ontop of the 3.9% til paid for which I still have until next year.
