I love this forum and have used so many things I researched here to get my act together. Now I find I have a situation that I need help with - please assist if you can. I had awful medical debts, some small and some big - but this odd one cropped up as well. My credit reports show a $45 charge off from Citibank. I asked them for proof this was my account and they indicated they cannot locate my account. So (this is probably where I screwed up) but I paid the $45 just to clear it on my credit report since we were about to shop for a mortgage. They cashed my check - I have a copy of the cancelled check. But now they state they don't know where to apply the funds. I've provided them with a copy of the item from my credit report as well as my information. Still they cannot locate an account for me. But it remains on my credit report... They can't find an account for me but I've paid the money which they gladly accept... Does anyone have ANY idea how to proceed? I've paid all outstanding debts from my credit report - worked an extra job for a year to do it, but it was well worth it. I've been successful in removing many of the items I paid in full so now my report is looking good and my scores are improving. But this one Citibank issue remains. I greatly appreciate any help that anyone can provide.
Have you dispute the aforementioned tradeline through the credit reporting agencies? If so, have you contacted Citi through planetfeedback?
Planetfeedback I'll try planetfeedback. I had no luck through the credit reporting agencies. I really wish I'd handled this different from the get-go... No sense grousing about what I could have done - just focusing on resolution now. Will let you know how planetfeedback goes.
This is the ONLY thing left on my credit report... ...just anxious to clear it up. Many thanks for your assistance - just wondering how long a planetfeedback response may take. Take care, ddp
Planetfeedback.com--think of it as the Fodors of the complaint world. Been around for 6 or 7 years now. I believe it started because so many people got no response to complaits or questions from small to large companies and businesses when they had a problem so this very public forum to air gripes etc came into being. Worth poking around, I think.
I like the idea of Planetfeedback - but after looking around I wonder how much credibility is given by companies responding to complaints. There are so many nonsense complaints - I think they may litter up the "system" a bit. I'll let you know how long it is before I receive a reply, if any... I certainly do hope that this will net some results.
So say you have a problemo with NAF ; ) you would make a complaint there, and NAF goes and visits and responds? I will check it out Thanks Woofer
Perhaps I don't play fair... But when I didn't have a PlanetFeedback ("pfb") response after 30 days, I sent a letter via registered mail directly to the Citibank contact whose name was indicated on the communication at PFB. I included copies of all communications I've had trying to remove this along with a print of my PFB request. Three days later -all negative report was deleted. I've become a crazy woman about getting my credit reports cleaned. Oddly enough TransUnion and Equifax have cleaned up very nicely and stand at 700+. My Experian is still lagging just above 600 - they are still in the midst of 6 investigations, all of which are PAID in full. At worst, they will stand as medical collections that have zero balances - is that really so bad?? Thank you for your assistance in recommending PFB - it wasn't the solution, but contributed to the solution by finally giving me the name and address of a person who provided resolution.
You say they're still investigating. Is it within the 30-day period they have to invesigate (45 days if you disputed from your free annual report)? If it's been less than that, wait for the investigation period to run. If it's been more than that, send a strongly worded letter stating that they weren't verified and must be removed.
Within 30 Still within 30 days, they have until 8/7. They are verified debts for medical items when I was hospitalized - they can legitimately remain on my credit report. I've paid them all in full and with persistance was somehow successful in getting Transunion to remove them all. Only two were reported to Equifax and I was successful in having those removed as well. Experian has been by far the more difficult of the three credit bureaus to deal with - from what I've read, that's a common complaint.
