I'm hoping someone can answer this question. I have an old collection account - Paid, but I would like to get it removed. I've sent certified validation letters, with no responses. Can I file a complaint with the FTC (since I really assumed ownership by paying it) or am I better off just letting it go. It won't fall off until Aug 2005. Any info would help greatly.
I had a paid collection account on my bureaus from 1998 of which I disputed last year and it was removed. I basically disputed it as "not mine" and I guess it wasn't verified so they removed it. You may want to dispute it via the CRA's
