Credit length and closed accounts

Can anyone tell me definitively if closed accounts count towards your credit history length score? I've seen mixed messages on this. The reason I'm asking is because I've had a Cross Country Bank credit card for about 6 years now and I am itching to close this account. Between the annual fee and the new $6 monthly fee I'm paying close to $150 a year just to be able to use their card with their 25% interest rate. My problem is that my next newest card (open or otherwise) is only 2 years old and I'm afraid that I'll take a big FICO hit if I close this account now. If it will still count toward my history when it's closed, then it will be closed very soon ::grin:: If not, then I'll just have to sock drawer it and keep biting the bullet on the $150 until I get more history on my other cards.

    Thanks,
    Brett

I have "EXCESSIVE" BANK CARDS because they count the CLOSED ones too...

As for "TOTAL" history...I'm not sure...

Most definetely! I found this out about a month ago when a few of my old Sallie-Mae tradelines were added to my TU report which increased my credit profile 2 additional years!
