Can anyone tell me definitively if closed accounts count towards your credit history length score? I've seen mixed messages on this. The reason I'm asking is because I've had a Cross Country Bank credit card for about 6 years now and I am itching to close this account. Between the annual fee and the new $6 monthly fee I'm paying close to $150 a year just to be able to use their card with their 25% interest rate. My problem is that my next newest card (open or otherwise) is only 2 years old and I'm afraid that I'll take a big FICO hit if I close this account now. If it will still count toward my history when it's closed, then it will be closed very soon ::grin:: If not, then I'll just have to sock drawer it and keep biting the bullet on the $150 until I get more history on my other cards. Thanks, Brett
I have "EXCESSIVE" BANK CARDS because they count the CLOSED ones too... As for "TOTAL" history...I'm not sure...
Most definetely! I found this out about a month ago when a few of my old Sallie-Mae tradelines were added to my TU report which increased my credit profile 2 additional years!
