Does Discover pull a credit report when you request a line increase? What about Citibank Aadvantage. I want to get some lines raised but do not want a credit pull. I have Amex Starwood and I know they pull a report even if you have been a good customer. I am trying to increase my score by letting utilization drop a little. I went to 25% utilization from 10% and lost 33 points with Equifax. One thing is for sure Equifax scores moves the most. FICO moves much less.

My understanding - from reading this board - is if you already have an account with CC company and they pull - it is a soft pull.

You can say NO "PULL" they do a "SOFT" every month...THEY DON'T NEED A "HARD"

They might just say NO WAY...

If you do a BT, they ask "HOW MUCH" you say I could do more than $XXXX (my current limit)..."BUT I DON'T NEED ANY CREDIT REPORTS PULLED"

I have done that a couple of times...

BUT DISCOVERCARD IS IN THE SOCK DRAWER!!!

Wow. I never knew Discover did a soft pull every month. I guess they want to stay on top of things with their customers.

Some cards do "SOFT" 1-4 times per year...some EVERY MONTH...some every 3 weeks!!!

THEY ARE LOOKING FOR A REASON TO "JACK" YOU!!! THEY REALLY DON'T NEED A REASON TO "JACK" YOU...THEY CAN JUST "INVENT" ONE IF THEY CAN'T FIND A REASON IN YOUR CREDIT REPORTS!!!

Discover Card increased credit limit depends on your credit history (from 1 yr - 3 yrs). You can request credit limit increase on their websites every 3 to 4 months since last increase (without hard inquiry). Filling the forms it is definitely hard inquiry.

Where on Discover's web site can you request a CLI? The only thing I see says that you have to call.

Very informative, I came here because my credit report[very decent] shows discover doing an inquiry every month and nothing from other card.95% of time we pay total balance every month so it bugged me, I called and she said we are just checking to see if you qualify for some feature, I said yeh the 26.99% feature I'm looking for new card.

I have been with discover since 2003 and every 6 months on the dot I call them for an increase with no hard pull. Works everytime.
