Equifax provided me with an address for a CA reporting an account on my file. I sent my 30 day debt validation letter CMRRR and 2 weeks later, I got the letter back unopened with a note on the envelope that the CA was "unknown" and had vacated from that address. I started an investigation with Equifax. Experian had another address listed for the same CA so I sent off the validation once again.

When the 30 days for Equifax investigation were up, I checked my report and itâ??s still there but it's no longer listed as "consumer disputes". So, I called Equifax and asked them, they told me the CA never responded to the verification request and that the listing was in fact removed. I use creditwatch and I never saw it disappear. So I said, well then why is it still there if it was removed?? They said ONE day after the 30-day expired, the CA re-reported the account. Meanwhile, the CA got my dispute letter 5 days prior to re-reporting it so they're violating by verifying it while itâ??s in dispute, PLUS not listing it as disputed. Am I correct or no?
By the way, the account was deleted from Experian cause they never responded. Equifax has verified every single account Iâ??ve disputed and Iâ??m starting to think theyâ??re full of shit and verifying it themselves to not have to â??go thru the hassleâ?. Getting very frustratedâ?¦
Anyway, the CA is Credit Protection Assoc. collecting for Comcast and if anyone has any dirt on them or interesting stories, please post.
Of course since Equifax is above the law and is not obligated to follow the FCRA, they never sent me the notice of re-insertion nor the procedural descriptions Iâ??ve asked for twice. What is it with Equifax and their God Complex??

I am dealing with Credit Protection as we speak, I am about to send them a validation letter. They are trying to collect on 3 comcast cable bills. I disputed the one they had originally on Eqfx and got back three. So I have tripled the problem, but not to worry. We are coming and we are going to get them.

Something's fishy here.... on my reports, CP was reporting for Comcast
    Equifax: 2 accounts, both paid
For 1 of the accounts, CP validated after 20 days.
For the other, CP failed to respond to validation, re-inserts on the 31st daty
    Experian: 1 account
disputed with CRA, CP didn't respond, account was deleted.
    TU: 2 accounts
I pulled my TU-keep in mind I'd never checked my TU before this and had not initiated an investigation thru the TU, and at this point I had not sent validation letters yet. I look at the accounts and it says " the following item is being suppressed pending credit grantor update"

The thing is that where I'm at, Comcast is no longer in biz and AT&T has taken over all their accounts. I doubt they'll be able to validate- hell I doubt they'll even respond.
Please keep me posted on your case so we can compare notes/trash on CP. :)

I am also having problems with a CP account. It was listed as unpaid. I disputed and the status changed to "checked". I disputed again, and it was deleted. That was in Jan. It just came back on my report and again as "checked" (this was on Exquifax). I sent a validation letter to the address that Equifax has listed and I got the same thing.....unknown, can't find. I called the phone number that they have listed and I could not speak to a human (I just wanted to ask for their address). What do you have for an address on them? Please keep me posted on how this all works out for both of you.
I also sent a letter to Equifax demanding they delete because they never gave me the 5 day notice of reinsertion. I doubt I will get anywhere there without suing, though.

Thanks for the reply, the address I have for them from EXP/TU is below and they did receive my letter. I just sent 30 day so I'm waiting for a response. You too please keep us posted on what's happening on your end and if any of you have any dirt on them, please do share.

Uhm maybe I'm wrong on that one then, I'm in So Fla but AT&T bought all Comcast's accounts where I'm at.

Swede, Tell me you are in the Miami area. My CP accounts are from a residence in Miami, I was planning on sending them a validation letter. I did not know that AT&T had bought Comcast. I was living in MIA in 2000. If At&T bought Comcast, I would think it would be hard to validate

Yes Mam, in Fort Lauderdale where Comcast had their headquarters for FL. Check the link, they weren't bought but merged with AT&T in 2001 and the new company I guess it AT&T Comcast but my bills comes from AT&T Broadband
    . http://www.att.com/news/item/0,1847,4135,00.html
It says "Under the terms of the definitive agreement, AT&T will spin off AT&T Broadband and simultaneously merge it with Comcast, forming a new company to be called AT&T Comcast Corporation" but like I said, my cable bills are coming from AT&T Broadband.

So do you think our theory on them validating will be easy or hard

Good question. Here's something strange. I didn't dispute it with EXP and one day it was just gone. I pulled my TU and it said "this item is being suppressed pending credit grantor update" and a few days later it was verified. I'm only a week away from them receiving my validation letter but I'm also disputing it with EQ in the meantime.
