Sorry if this is a repeat question but I did look for answers (there are alot of post on this board)

I have been reading this board for awhile now and decided I needed to look at my credit reports and see what is going on. Hopefully, it won't be too bad (One can only dream).

Any suggestions as to the best place to get copies of your credit reports. You know, who gives you more info, best price, etc. I just wanted some opinions to get me going.

    Thanks for the input.

I like truecredit.com...you get all your credit reports on one report and you don't have to decode it.

    it's kind of expensive..but convenient

you can get all your reports online (as long as you can verify information) from the credit bureaus...and transunions is a lot better than it used to be (used to be some ugly pdf thing 6 mos ago)

    Hi Ester,
Welcome aboard the CreditNet train. Woooo Woooo.

I would suggest you start by reading the FAQ rather than starting out simply reading all the past posts (after all there are over 200,000 so far).

You can find the FAQ by clicking here

There is a section in there on obtaining your reports.

I always suggest starting out by getting your reports straight from the horses mouth. That means ordering hard copies from the 3 CRA's directly, and not relying on 3rd party companies that compile your report from the CRA's databases. Not that it is BAD, but mistakes can happen, and it is always best to start from the source. Many times I have seen people order their reports from 3rd parties and missed some derogs that were on their reports because the 3rd party software had a glitch, or coded something incorrectly. Then when you KNOW what is in your report, you can sign up for the monitoring, scoring, or 3rd party report companies to watch things.

You can order your report cheaper or even free if you live in certain states or have been denied credit recently also.

Good luck with your journey...everyone starts out with the same tenuous steps...but the pace and confidence pick up quickly. Especially when you hang out around CreditNet!

    -Peace, Dave

Your best "plan of action" would be to order your reports separately from each CRA.

Equifax has what is called Creditwatch. They give you a free 30-day trial. With it, you have access to a new report every 24 hours, access you to your true FICO score, and you can dispute online. If you don't want to pay for it, just cancel before 30 days are up. Click here: www.equifax.com

Experian has what is called CreditExpert. They give you a free 30-day trial. With it, you have access to a new report every 24 hours, access to your credit score, and you can dispute online. If you don't want to pay for it, just cancel before 30 days. Click here: www.experian.com

Transunion, at this point does not have a service as EQ and EX, however, you can still pull your report directly from them for free. Just claim you were denied credit or insurance within the past 60 days, make up a company name (doesn't matter) and you'll have access for 6 days, however, in that 6 day time frame, the report does not update. But you can still dispute online, and get your fake credit score TU style. Click here: www.transunion.com

Sorry for the delay of thanks my service has been down so...

Thanks to everyone for their input and Nave for the Unofficial CreditNet Board FAQ. I had not seen that one (don't know how I missed it), only the "Official FAQ" on this site.

Well, I got my reports and they are not as bad as I thought but they do need some tweaking.

I have 3 cc accounts showing late. I do not understand why because I have never been late ;) (I think I am getting the hang of this) I have a 30 days x1, 30 days late x2, and 60 days late x1. I am just guessing but, is the (1) 60 day late account worse than the (2) 30 day late account?

I am just trying to figure out which one to tackle first. And I do plan on doing my reading and research according to Mr. PsychDoc's Credit Repair Primer.

I am really going to admit my newbieness. I thought PsychDoc was just a nickname because he was a little "nutty". I did not realize he really had a background in psychology. I can tell I have alot of reading to do.

Count me in on this CreditNet train ride!!

    Have a Great Day!!

Here's a couple related newbie questions I have:

Let's say I apply for a Platinum or Gold card from XYZ Bank, but after being approved am instead sent their standard card. Since many credit apps put a statement in their fine print that goes like "if I am not approved for the premium card please consider this an application for your standard card" this could be a common occurance.
Would being "denied" the premium card in such a situation still entitle me to a free copy of my credit report, or would the CRAs be jerks about it and claim there was no denial since I DID get a card?

Also for future reference, can one request a free 30 day trial more than once from EXP and EQ or is there some more clever way to get free reports from these agencies next time you feel like checking out your credit?

There is NO WAY for them (CRA) to know if you got the card or not in the first 30 days...USUALLY it does NOT show on any credit report before 60 days (if you got the card)...
