Okay, so most CC's pull TU for me because I live in chicago. It is my worst report. Is there any card that I can get with a 586 score on Experian? Who could I be sure would pull Experian? I am desperate to start rebuilding my credit.

I just sent in the check for a Net First card.

    Like I said, I'm desperate.

I've got the cash, but no credit. I feel like an idiot!

    Any advice?

uhh that net 1st card was a big mistake.

first: Clean up and dispute all your bad stuff.

then get a cap 1 secured card..

ugh, put a stop payment on net 1st.

OTHER CARD COMPANIES GIVE 100%-300% OF YOUR DEPOSIT AND NO $210.00 FEE SO YOU ARE OVER LIMIT AND THEN THEY CAN RIP YOU OFF MORE FOR BEING OVER LIMIT...ALL BEFORE YOU GET THE CARD OR GET TO MAKE YOUR FIRST PURCHASE!!!!!!

I agree with sam, go for a secured card, that way you'll get your deposit back instead of throwing away the $210+ for net 1st., future card etc.

I have both a wells fargo and a cap1 secured. They both report as unsecured, but the wells fargo also reports your credit limit, unlike the cap1 card. They should be almost automatic to get, unless you have a bad history with either company.

Sterling is also excellent. They will give you 120% of your deposit (min. $200) and guaranteed approval. It costs like $19 to apply and then $39 annual fee. Very nice people. And if your deposit is $375 or more, you earn interest too! Doesn't report as secured. Cons: it is hard to get it totally unsecured and there is no online checking payments.

Wells Fargo offers a secured card as well as Bank of America. I don't know the exact terms of them but at least they don't shout out "I'm desperate" on your credit report. (or even worse, the dinner table)

You could also shop some of your local credit unions and smaller, private banks, I'm sure you could find a better alternative. I used to belong to a privately held bank that only had one branch, the two primary investors were local doctors. Anyway, they had a secured card that was secured with a CD. I don't know the fine print for this deal either but I would guess that $500 into a CD would be more competative than a Net1st. Point being, if you have to go the secured route, spend an hour or two calling and asking places if they offer a secured card and what are the details.

With a 586 score I got a cap one unsecured for $200, now at $2,000 thanks to this sight and two planet feedback letters.

A Bluelight.com (K-mart Cap One) card at 17.05% interest, $4 a month membership fee and a $200 limit. It is now five months old, waiting till Oct. 1 to call retention.

Did a secured co-signed loan at local credit union for $1500 now paid off.

Added as an authorized user on two of the wives cards and a joint user on two others. This might have helped bring me to 586.

Joint signer on a 1999 van early July at the local credit union.

I have not checked my score for three months, still working on dealing with a boatload of negatives and a 1998 chapter 7 BK.

First consumer national bank, the one recommend by many here offered me $500 for every $100 deposited. I did not responded but probably will call them in the near future.

586 is a tough number but we are still better off than 8% of America.
