I've 2 accounts listed in my Credit history with the 1st account dates back to Sep 1999(AT & T wireless account) and my 2nd account listed from Jan 2000 with a 3000$ revolving credit(VISA credit card) Both accounts are open, active, never late, paid-in-full, like paying back 2500 - 3000$ sometimes 2-3 months consecutively. I would like to know my chances of getting a Citibank Card or American express Charge card 3 months down the line. Will i get a credit line of atleast 5000$? My income falls in the 75,000 $ per annum cateogry. would appreciate some inputs.
RE: Criteria for American Expr You've selected two very respectable lenders. You have a good income, and both companies will view your debtload to determine whether or not an approval with overextend you. Do you have just those two tradelines on your reports? How long have they been opened? I would ascertain that as long as you have had these accounts open for at least 12 months, your chances are probably good to receive approval. AMEX has a blue card which I hear is great! It features instant online approval. CitiBank also have many good card products, most which feature instant approval with the online application. Either one are good choices! Good luck and let us know!!
RE: Criteria for American Expr Those are the only 2 things listed in my credit report My 1st account(AT & T wireless) operates from Sep 1999, will be 1 year old in Sep 2000 2nd one, VISA card will be 9 months old in Sep 2000. Both are open, active, never-late, paid-in-full, sometimes charging aroud 2500-3000$ and paying-in full. What are my chances ? Should i wait for another 6 months? Thanks in advance for ur information
RE: Criteria for American Expr I would go ahead and apply for the regular Amex Card. Remember that you have to pay the bill in full each month (with certain exceptions). If you have no negative credit history and a verifiable income of the level that you have described then you shouldn't have a problem getting an Amex Green Card. Eventually they will probably offer you an Optima with a revolving credit line, or a Blue. Blue is eventually going to replace Optima. Once you have the Amex for a couple of months, you should be able to almost any other credit card you want if you maintain a "no degoratory" credit file. In fact, having an Amex on your credit history and only one Visa will undoubtably unleash a deluge of pre-approved offers for MCs and Visas.
RE: Criteria for American Expr Ashley- Have you rebuilt your credit, or are you just establishing it? I'm curious!
RE: Criteria for American Expr I'm establishing credit as my credit history starts only from Sep 1999.
RE: Criteria for American Expr Are pre-approved offers from amex different than from other card companies? I got one and would like the card, but do not want to waste the inquiry.
RE: Criteria for American Expr I know that my dad got a pre-approved Blue card offer in the mail a month ago, and all they wanted was how he wanted his name to appear on the card, his signature, and the date. Surely that's a real pre-approved offer!
RE: Criteria for American Expr Ashley, what VISA card do you carry? Is it secured in any way? I'm so curious, as my credit history isn't too much longer than yours, and that is a significant card limit if it happens to be unsecured. I know I started off my history with two cards, $700 limits a piece.
RE: Criteria for American Expr It's from US Bank. It's unsecured. All i'd was my AT & T wireless account in my credit history before i got this 3000$ VISA card.
RE: Criteria for American Expr If I where you I would actually apply for the AT&T universal card which is owned and operated by Citibank. that way you can get AT&T wireless and credit card charges all on one bill. Plus you already have a good credit history with your AT&T wireless bill. That should give you a better chance at getting the card.
