I got a loan on a car this week. When signing the papers the dealer had my Beacon credit report. I asked him for a copy and he told me that he was not permitted by law to give me a copy. Is that true?
Beacon isn't a report it's a score. They are required to provide you with a letter determining that you are subject to adverse action. That letter will tell you what credit report was obtained, what factors they considered most in that decision. Most importantly, it must also provide the score that they received. The law doesn't say that they CAN'T provide you with the report, but the organization that MUST is the CRA that gave them the credit report.
