Hey gang! I know this is soooooooo off-topic. But I'm busting with excitement!

My boyfriend popped "the question" this morning under the Christmas tree whith my parents here while we were all opening our gifts. (Even asked for their consent, the ole fashioned way.)

Dumbfounded silly me looked down at the box that I THOUGHT was a pair of earrings (he camoflouged them) and discovered I was holding a 1.5 carat diamond solitaire. (Don't know what the heck he paid for it with...I thought I knew every credit source of his.)

Wow! Of course there's so much more, but isn't it a wonder that I just had to share this with my CreditNet pals! (Thanks PBM for putting up with all this stuff.)

    I'm walking on sunshine!

Keep walking on that sunshine, girl!

Congratulations! May your married life be filled with love, growth, happiness & all of God's blessings!

That is so cool for your bf to ask for your hand in marriage. My husband did that & impressed the helll out of my parents!

I'm very very very happy for you!

Thanks everybody! The excitement is bubbling over here. We've been on the phone all day and evening yesterday making the announcment to the family...and we STILL have more calls to go.

So many asked "when's the wedding". I'm clueless. Maybe I'll be a June bride. that gives me about 5 months to shake off the "Holiday Butt" syndrome for my wedding gown and make all arrangements.

I always said I never wanted my wedding planning to be more stressful than the marriage itself. So I'm calling on ALL of you to "pull my coattail if/when I start to sound "freaked out".

    Details to come!

Cool detail: Of all the crazy stories about my family, I once told my boyfriend about the Christmas my Dad got my Mom her wedding ring and band. (They'd eloped -- against their family's wishes -- in the 1940's because of the war. They didn't have much money, Mom never had rings.)

I was about 12 years old. My Dad kept hinting that he'd gotten her "a wonderful Christmas present this time". We all smirked because my Dad has got to me THE WORLD'S WORST Christmas present buyer!

Come Christmas morning he present my Mom with what he'd thought were the temporary rings which she could have sized later.

Well, Mom slipped the platinum, multi-cluster engagement ring and wedding band onto her ring finger...and lo and behold, they fit!

What Dad didn't know until later is that, he's also the world's worst present hider and all his hinting had made my Mom go looking for the present. Once she found it, she took it back to the jeweler's, had it sized to fit, then rewrapped it and put it back in it's hiding place.

To this day, My Dad thinks he just did a terrific job of guessing her size! So all you CreditNetters are sworn to secrecy here! Tee-hee! Cross your hearts and hope to die!

Well, the tie-in is the jewel was one in my small hometown with only one store.

My boyfriend, got on the internet, found that jeweler and purchased my ring from the same place my Mom got hers years ago!

That gave it a very special twist once he told us that, especially as my Mom was sitting right there when he proposed to me!

    Ah! Ain't life grand!
