What are your feelings about the Discover card which I believe is issued by Sears not Citibank?

I know that it has 2 cycle billing and a rebate. My ex-wife and I had a Discover card until about 5 years ago when we closed the account in good standing. We seldom used it so I don't remember much about it.

What apr. do you card holders have and what did you start with?

Also, is it very difficult to get. If the owner of Discover is indeed Sears, I suspect that these cards have been issued by the millions. LOL

    Thanks

    SEARS SOLD IT TO NOVUS.

THE TWO CYCLE BILLING doesn't matter because it it NOT logical to pay interest on the card.

Discover is one of the few companies I felt bad about including in my Chapter 7. I always had great service from its reps. During my financial problems, Discover was the company that treated me with the most respect. Never any threats or harassment. I would gladly paid back what was discharged in order to have a Discover card again.

    Thanks for the info

If you can believe it, that old discover card of mine still shows as "R1" on my EQ report. There does appear to be some evidence that FICO views the account as closed as there has been no activity for all these years.

Does Discover have one of those internal blacklists (I forgot the name people were using)? Would you eventually get another card with them?

    jonesing,
Yes, Discover has internal blacklist. I tried to apply for Discover Platinium and I got denied because my name was on the blacklist. They still denied you on the pre-apprval application. I got approved for Discover Card after my name came off from the blacklist. By the way, you can apply for Novus card and Novus card system is not link with Discover blacklist system because I applied for Smithsoniancard and I got approved. That means you can get Novus card with them even if your name is on their Discover Blacklist. By the way you cannot have any negative on your credit report and you cannot have more than 5 inquiries within 6 months.

    Discover's list

A Discover rep told me if I paid off what I owed I would be eligible for a card after six months. As always, I am also skeptical about what a rep tells me. If I had known about it when I was going through my BK, I would have asked Discover if I could reaffirm.

The only creditor that ever told me it doesn't blacklist is Nordstrom. I was also told after two years of solid rebuilding, it wouldn't hold a BK against you.

    TO Jim: still listed

I have a bunch of cards still listed as open -- including one that I haven't used for at least a decade. (Unfortunatly, most of these for companies that don't have a store anywhere near where I now live, and a couple are for stores that went bankrupt.) I have cards listed as open on one report and closed by credit grantor on the other two.

I actually started using a card I noticed was still listed as open though I hadn't used it in three years. I called the creditor with a change of address, and then I used it to buy my wife's birthday gift. It went through no problem. The good thing about it is this card shows a $2,000 credit line and a 20-year history.

I'm also thinking about trying to re-open some cards listed as closed but still on my report with no negatives.
