Can you apply for just the credit builder program ? Im pretty sure I'd be denied for the standard card because my credit history is pretty short. Or do they just offer the credit builder card to some people with the denial letter ? Thx!

Eric2002,
I think they have to invite you in their denial letter. The letter said to call the number
within 15 days of reciept of it.

Chevron checked EXP (don't recall scores) Hubby had one paid CA (from99) on that report, he got $400.
I had a paid chargeoff from 98 and some late pays from 1/01, I got $300, NOT Credit Builder.

I was DENIED Citgo (Citibank), at the time I had a 718 score (FAKO TU) and only 120 day late from 98.

I think Texaco was harder to obtain then Chevron. However I have a 900.00 limit on Texaco and a 300.00 limit on Chevron. I closed out the Chevron and use Texaco only now. And, I pay it off each month so I pay no interest which is like 19%. I would vote for Chevron as the easiest but be prepared to get a low limit to start off and once you create a good payment history then request a increase. Texaco just automatically raised my limit (I've had my card since 98) each year. Lord knows what I would do spending 900/mo on just gas.

you pay a $30.00 an. fee for the credit builder card. probably have a higher interest rate too, but i didnt care so I dont even know what mine is currently.

QuikTrip gas card from UMB Bank.

low 600s and will accept a several year old bk.

400 starting cl.... bumped to 500 within 6 mos when I asked ;) and QT has the cheapest gas in Atlanta and they even carry Pepsi in this Coke controlled town ;)

Equifax when I asked for the increase in credit line (yes... I got a hard... didn't know it but it's ok)

I want to say Equifax for approval... but I honestly don't see it on the report...

You could call them and ask. They're a very nice, midwestern bank :)

Ok, so I applied for Texaco online yesterday. I had a card previously and tried to re-activate it (had a perfect payment record for them) and she said it was too old of an account and I should re-apply. I got the "you will receive an answer in the mail in 7-10 days" or whatever. The said instant approval so I'm expecting to be denied. Also, now Texaco is good at Chevron also. Think I can expect a credit builder offer in the mail? Hope so, great to have for trips and things. Interest rate doesn't bother me much because I'm planning to pay off this one every month.

TU ?
EX 615
EQ 631 (have some pending disputes that probably raised this one a bit).
