I am now down to 2 inquiries (which is what equifax says is the average. Look at how my reason changed in ONE day (plus it was a 12 point boost) 8/1/02 reasons: Positive Factors 1.The time since your most recent past due payment is old or unknown More information 2.You demonstrate a relatively long credit history Negative Factors 1.Instances of being seriously late or having derogatory indicators/remarks on your credit obligations is being reported on your credit file 2.You have recently been seeking credit as reflected by the number of inquiries posted on your credit file in the last 12 months 8/2/02 reasons: Positive Factors 1.The time since your most recent past due payment is old or unknown 2.You have a substantial number of accounts currently paid as agreed Negative Factors 1.Instances of being seriously late or having derogatory indicators/remarks on your credit obligations is being reported on your credit file 2. The length of time your accounts have been established is relatively short. So yesterday I had a relatively long history, and today, I have a short one????? So, like George, I now have coined a new phrase regarding FICO, RRG, Random Reason Generator. As soon as someone teaches me the copyright thing ITS ALL MINE BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Actually they are completely different factors. The first is showing that the overall length of your credit history has long been established (like 5 or more years of data). The second is demonstrating that you have some relatively new accounts (recently open - within 1 or 2 years). They are not mutually exclusive events. I have exactly the same problem and mine did not span 2 scores...I have gotten the two responses on one score. -Peace, Dave
