Has anyone disputed inquiries through Equifax and had them investigate and remove? I called them and they said they do not deal with inquiries. Is there anything in the FCRA that states they have to investigate? Any help would be appreciated.

I had a few removed--your best bet is to contact the creditors directly by CRRR and DEMAND removal. They may fight a little, it may take 2 or 3 letters, but I have had more success with them coming off that way. EQ is stingy with removing inquiries.

I am not really sure what the FCRA says--one of the things I will have to study.

I have had great success with TU removing inquiries. I just pulled my TU and have NO (not a single one) inquiries on my report now. Also I went from 18 to 15 negative items, so apparently my disputes last week have been removed.. YEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWW.

Ok I'll take a chill pill now and quit being so dang anxious. :)

I believe that in a court case it was established that the FCRA does not require the CRAs to remove an inquiry even if it was unauthorized. That is, you may have recourse against the company that made the inquiry, but not against the CRA.

I don't know the specific language that landed us with this loophole, but it is one that is apparently being taken advantage of by two of the CRAs...
